Anguish

My cry of anguish
This look of defeat
I scream out in pain
As I fall into my abyss.
My confidence has shattered
Into a million pieces
Each jagged edge
Piercing my skin.
I've become resentful
Towards my wandering mind.
I sob for I fear
I can not control it.
Depression is relentless
When self-esteem is low.
The darkness in my soul
Is engulfing me whole.
I've known this darkness
For so long
The light feels like flames,
Please help me escape!
If I stay here
For much longer,
My soul will perish
And all emotions shall fade.
Fade into the dark abyss
I have known for too long.
My wish is to see
Colors other than black
And to know happiness
One last time
Before my soul diminishes
Into the nothingness that is me.
