No Need For Words

Broken hearts
afraid to be alone
cling to each other
over the phone
they don't speak a word
of love or of dates
but manage to
incorporate them
anyway.

Fear and faith
does crazy things
while hope becomes
the bearer of pain,
they stop thinking
and roll with a punch
despite sinking feelings
and painful past
failings.

Will it work? Will it fail?
Can hearts ever truly heal?

I know that I'm hoping
this won't be another
in a long line of let downs

...and I bet she is too.
