As I sit in my desk, and try to do my work,

I can’t help but feel the waves of cruelty flowing around me.

Insults, snickering, backstabbing.

High school is all about putting everyone else down.

But I’m not petty like that.

I don’t tease and make fun of others

just to boost my own confidence.

Well… at least not out loud, anyway.

Am I any nobler than all these other browbeaters

simply because I keep my cruel comments and hatred inside?

Or am I just as evil-spirited as them, only quieter?
