Everyone was shcoked by what they had just witnessed. James had pulled himself into a crouch, and Kayan crawled over to him to try and calm him down. Vincent also knelt next to his brother, sensing tears may become involved soon. Ally stood up and brushed herself off, face set in a calm expression. “Kayan, dear, why don’t you come into the kitchen with me? We’ll give these two a moment alone.”
The blonde made a soft whimpering sound in the back of his throat, clinging to James determinedly. “Go on. We’ll be ok.” Vincent said softly. Kayan nodded and reluctantly got up, following Mrs. Dean into the kitchen.
Vincent wiped away the tears his brother had so skillfully hidden around Kayan. “We’ll never have to deal with that sorry excuse for a man again. He deserved what you gave him.”
A few minutes later, the two boys walked into the kitchen, both completely composed. James wrapped his arms around his boyfriend, cuddling him like a teddy bear for comfort. “James, Vincent…” Ally said as she put some dirty dishes in the sink. “I was thinking- and I’ve already run this by Kayan- that it’ll be awfully quiet with only the three of us in the house, and… I thought maybe Kayan could come live with us. James, I’d let you two share a room if you’d like, as long as you keep the door open. He’s already said yes, if you want him to that is.”
James’ eyebrows shot up. “Seriously? You mean, he can really come live with us?”
Ally laughed. “Yes! He definetely seems to have a positive effect on you, and he’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever met. I’ve never seen you happier than in this past month or so.”
“Of course I want him to!” James hugged the blonde even tighter.
Vincent nodded his assent, smiling knowingly. “Don’t worry, I’ll let you close the door when mom’s not home.”
OoOoOoOoOoOoO
They brought all of Kayan’s few things from the orphanage, and Ally explained to the orphanage caretaker, who had practically raised Kayan and thought this was excellent.
That night, Kayan and James climbed into bed together, a little nervous but ecstatic. Ally had promised to take the blonde shopping the next day. Vincent had explained his mother had always wanted a girl, and now she had something just as good as one to dote on.
James hesitantly pulled Kayan close to him. The blonde relaxed into him like a ragdoll, snuggling against his chest and breathing deeply. “This is nice.” He sighed.
“Yeah.” James kissed his hair, breathing in the sweet smell. “I can’t believe you’re staying with me.”
“Jamie, I know you’re upset. Don’t try to hide it. You don’t have to be a big strong guy all the time, you know. I know that’s what you think, but it isn’t true. I’m your boyfriend, you’re supposed to be open with me.”
James sighed heavily. “Kayan, you have no idea what you’re asking of me. The way I am with Vincent… it’s taken a lifetime for me to be able to open up to the degree I have with him. He’s the only one I told about you. The two of us are tight.”
“But… I’m your boyfriend. Isn’t that different?”
“Look, I can try, ok? But I’m not promising anything. I feel like I need to be strong around you, to be your rock.”
“It just hurts me to know you’re right beside me, hurting so bad, and I can’t do anything. I just want to help.” Kayan cooed, stroking his muscular chest.
“You can’t, Kayan. Not right now. Not yet.”
When morning came, Kayan woke first. It was Saturday. James was still asleep next to him, but he was moving slightly and making soft noises in his sleep. His body was slick with sweat. The blonde giggled. He thought that was kind of cute. It would be just too cruel to wake James now. Which was, of course, why he was going to do it. He poked his boyfriend in the shoulder.
James shot up, shook his head, and groaned in frustration. “That’s the forth time this week.” Then he realized Kayan was right next to him, giggling so hard it sounded like he was going to explode, and clapped a hand over his mouth. His face went bright red.
“Do you dream about me a lot, Jamie?” Kayan choked out, his laughter doubling when he saw how mortified James was. He knew it was mean, but it was so damn funny!
James cleared his throat ashamedly. “Yes, actually.”
Kayan fought to control himself, wiping hysterical tears from his eyes. “I’m so sorry. It’s just… you’re so embarrassed!” He burst out laughing again.
For the first time in his life, James thought he might die of embarrassment.
The blonde finally managed to stop laughing. “I’m sorry, I really am, it’s not that funny… but it just is!” He almost went into hysterics again, but stopped himself. “No, actually it’s pretty cute. Really. I’ve just never seen you so embarrassed!” He snickered. “It’s not like I haven’t had a few dreams about you. I’m sorry.” He wrapped his arms around James’ sweaty chest. “I’m so sorry. I’m really sorry.”
“It’s ok.” James finally managed. “I better go get cleaned up.”
Just after he left, Ally bustled in carrying a load of laundry. “So, dear. Are you ready to go shopping?”
“Shopping!” Kayan squealed, bouncing to his feet. Then he looked down, seeing he was only dressed in a pair of violently purple breifs. He giggled. “Let me get dressed first.”
“Of course.” She dropped some of the clothes on the floor. Seeing Kayan’s inquiring glance, she shrugged. “What? They end up there anyways.”
