Summer School!!

By: vampy8

Chapter one: Hearing The Bad News!

What do you mean I'm failing?" Rachel Pierce asked her math teacher Mr. Baker.

"I mean that for the past two tests, you've got a zero." He said, opening up his brief case and pulling out the two tests. Handing them to Rachel, her mouth hung open when she saw them.

"But sir isn’t there a way I can bring them up?" Rachel asked stuffing the papers in her math book.

He sighed before answering her. "There's no time for you to possibly bring it up. I'm sorry, but the only way is to go to summer school." He said, taking a few steps back because he knew she was going to blow.

"What!!" Rachel screamed. "There's no way I can go to summer school. I'm supposed to go to Florida this summer."

"I'm sorry, but it's the only way." He said, taking off his glasses and rubbing the bridge of his nose.

"Come on Mr. Baker. There has to be some other way, like extra credit or more work?" She asked praying he said yes to at least one.

"No!" He screamed getting tired of her voice already. Taking a calming breath he spoke again in a calmer tone this time. "I'm sorry but you have to go to summer school to graduate next year." He said grabbing her gently by the arm and dragging her to the door. "Now please leave, I have another class now." He said opening the door, showing kids piled up by the door.

Rachel gave him one last look, about to open her mouth. But a warning glance from him made her shut up. She sighed before walking out of the classroom and out in to the hall. With her books tucked up to her chest she started walking to her locker. Her blond hair swinging in the ponytail as she walked. Rachel walked up to her locker number 389. Spinning in the combination she slung it open, making it bang against the locker beside hers. Stuffing her books in the small space of her locker, she grabbed her navy green hoodie. Putting that on over her baby blue shirt, she pulled out her biology book. Shutting her locker she turned the lock back to zero she started walking down the hall. Entering the biology room she laid her books on the desk in the second row. A few seconds later her best friend Sarah walked in.

Sarah looked like she had just stepped out of a magazine. Her golden shoulder length hair is curled to her back, and she had eyeliner enhancing her hazel eyes. She was wearing a white blouse with the top two buttons opened. Her plaid mini skirt came just to her mid legs. Black boots came all the way up to her knees.

Sarah walked over to the seat next to Rachel and slumped down in the chair. She turned to Rachel, and saw a sour look on her face. She instantly knew something was wrong. For as long as they've known each other they could always pick up on each others empathy.

"What's wrong Rachel?" Sarah asked in her British accent.

Rachel sighed before turning to Sarah, her blue eyes intense with anger. "Mr. Baker." Was all Rachel had to say before Sarah caught on.

"What did he do this time?" Sarah asked opening up her small white purse. She took out a small compact and looked at herself in the middle. Rachel rolled her eyes. How many times a day dose she need to look at that thing? Rachel thought before she spoke. "He showed me these..." Rachel said opening up her notebook and taking out the test papers. She angrily tossed them to Sarah.

Sarah laid down her compact and turned her eyes to the papers. "Wow!"

"I haven't even got to the good part yet. He told me I'm not going to pass." Rachel said grabbing the papers and balling them up. "Shit!" Realizing what she had done she started straightening them out.

"What will you parents say? You'll still get to go to Florida with us this summer?" Sarah started firing off all these questions.

Rachel sighed, and turned her angry gaze from the crumpled heap of papers to her best friend. "Don't you think I've thought all about that? I practically begged him to give me another chance." Rachel screamed standing up so fast that the chair fell backwards.

Rachel who was to busy yelling didn't hear the bell ring but Sarah did. "Rachel..." Sarah started slowly shifting her eyes to the mass of students piling in and back to Rachel.

"No, you seem not to understand. There's not going to be any trip or any summer for me!" Rachel said still keeping her eyes on Sarah. Somehow she missed the kids walking past her to get to their seats. Sarah still had her eyes on all the students walking, smiling at ones she knew and waving at a few, only half listening to Rachel.

"You still don't get it do you? I'm not going to Florida...I'm going to summer school!!" Rachel said screaming the last part.

She was expecting a reply from Sarah, but all she got was a horrid look on her face. Sarah's mouth was hanging open so much that a nest of flies could fly in it. Rachel felt a sharp tap on her shoulder, making her freeze with dread. She slowly let her eyes wonder over the classroom seeing all the grinning faces of her classmates. She could feel her face heating up and knew she was turning extremely red. Turning around slowly she saw her biology teacher staring at her with amusement clearly shown on her face.

"I'm glad you got that out Ms. Pierce, but would you mind sitting down? I would like to start my class." Miss Engalbeard said, standing with her small, bony hands on her hips.

Rachel smiled a small smile before taking her seat. Running a hand over her eyes she turned her angry gaze on Sarah. "Why didn't you tell me she was there?" Rachel hissed, her baby blue eyes blazing with fury.

Sarah looked at her friend shocked. Not once in the six years that she knew her had she ever seen her this mad. "Well sorry I don't have eyes behind my head." Sarah hissed right back, turning to face the teacher's desk. Sure she had lied about not seeing her. But Rachel wouldn't shut up when she was going to tell her. It was basically both of their faults.

Rachel slumped down in her seat, covering her still red face with her hands. Taking a few calming breaths, she could feel herself start to relax. Just then the classroom door banged open so fast, that it hit the wall. The loud bang made Rachel look up. A small gasp came from her throat when she saw who it was.

The school's all out Goth boy Nicolo Smith. His body was lean, and he was around 6'1. He had muscle but you could never tell from all the baggy black clothes he wore. His hair came just to the top of his ears, and it was as black as night. Rachel moved her eyes down to this charming creature's face. His cheek bones were perfect, framing out his face. What had made Rachel gasp through was his eyes. They were a mixture of crystal blue, and a deep green. If you asked her what color they were she couldn't have told you. But she did know they were amazing. A shiny object caught Rachel's attention. She moved her eyes away from his, and up to his right eyebrow. A piercing stuck out.

Sarah stared at him too, but not with so much interest in her eyes. She turned her attention back to Rachel who was still looking him over. She leaned over her seat and nudged Rachel in the ribs. Rachel took her eyes off of Nicolo and turned to Sarah.

"What?" She hissed just above a whisper. She was mad at her for making her turn her eyes from that gorgeous boy.

"No...Rachel, don't get any ideas. He's in a whole other group then us." She said turning back toward him. This time he was talking to Miss Engalbeard, and she didn't look to happy. Sarah could hear Rachel sigh beside her, and she could just picture the eye roll.

"Fine, it wasn't like I was going to do anything. I was just looking." Rachel declared opening up her notebook, and started drawing lines all over the page.

Nicolo got done 'talking' to Miss Engalbeard, and he started walking to his desk. His eyes had caught Rachel's just for a moment, before she blushed and looked down quickly. Nicolo felt in the mood to joke around. So he scanned the area around her desk, and saw a seat empty behind her. He walked over to it, his heavy black boots making sounds with every step he took. When he moved his baggy bondage pants swished against his skin, and the chain hit every desk he walked by. He threw himself in the seat and propped his feet up on Rachel’s chair leg. About five minutes in to class he leaned forward making sure to get as close to her as he could, with out actually touching her.

"Can I borrow a pencil?" He asked his voice quiet and husky.

Rachel shivered as she felt his warm breath on the side of her neck. She could feel the tips of his hair grazing over her warm skin. She slowly breathed in and out. Taking out a pencil from her purse she lifted it behind her, not even bothering turning around.

Nicolo grabbed the pencil, barely letting his fingers make contact with her skin. Taking it from her he whispered again in her ear, smiling at the reaction he got. "Thanks doll." He said quickly biting down on her ear lobe, causing a small squeak to erupt from her. Slowly grazing his tongue over her ear lobe, he let go. Sitting back down, he smirked when he saw her still staring straight ahead, frozen in shock.

Sarah, who had seen the whole thing take place, was trying to hold in her laughter. Rachel snapped out of her shock and turned to glare at Sarah. Sarah slapped a thin hand with painted nails over her red full lips. The rest of the class period remained uneventful.

As the final bell rang signaling the end of school, everyone jumped out of their seats. Grabbing their books on their way by, they ran out of the room. Rachel, Sarah, and Nicolo slowly stood up. He walked past a few desks only stopping at Rachel's. The pencil was still held loosely in his right hand by his side. He stood in front of her desk and laid the pencil by her hand, just slightly letting his finger rub over the side of her hand. He saw her shiver, and a smirk played on his face as he walked out of the classroom. Rachel stared at the pencil that laid on the hard wooden surface. Ever so slowly she reached down and picked it up. A small laugh broke her from her trance. She dropped the pencil on the desk and it rolled to the edge. Rachel turned to her side to see Sarah looking at her with an amused look on her face.

"What's so funny?" Rachel asked confused.

"It's nothing really..." She started shaking her head with every word. "It's just you were practically drooling over him, and now you look at the pencil like it's a two headed monster with five eyes." Sarah finished letting her laughter die down.

"Let's go. I think you've had too much Sci-Fi." Rachel said standing up and grabbing her books. Her eyes landed on the pencil lying by the edge of the desk, Rachel sighed before walking past it. Sarah stood up, straightening out her skirt, before lifting up her books in her arms. She let her hand reach over and grab the pencil off Rachel's desk. Shoving it in her purse, she to followed Rachel's trail.

--

By the time lunch had rolled around Rachel felt like she had been through hell and back. Slamming her books on the lunch room table, she took a seat next to Eric, Sarah's twin brother, at the popular table. Eric looked a lot like Sarah but instead of the hazel eyes, he had his mom's light blue. A couple of cheerleaders were sitting in front of them gazing longingly at Eric, who they knew they'd never have.

"So what's up with you?" Eric asked Rachel in the same English accent as Sarah's.

"Sarah told you didn't she?" Rachel asked looking at him directly in the eyes.

He laid a hand on top of hers and gave her a friendly smile. "Babe the whole school knows by now, what with your whole freak out incident in biology class." He said giving her hand a squeeze before removing his.

Rachel rolled her eyes. "Yeah, you would be freaking out to, if you were going to summer school."

Just then the lunch room door opened and Sarah walked in. Behind her was Cody, the captain of the football team. He was wearing his Letterman jacket and baggy ass jeans. His hair was down to his ears, and his eyes were just as black as his hair. On his shoulder was his duffel bag, and in his hands...were Sarah's school books!. She was swinging her purse by her side as she walked over to Rachel, and Eric's table. Sarah laid her purse down next to Rachel, and turned back towards Cody.

"You can just sat my books down there, hun." She said giving him one of her famous smiles, showing off two rows of perfect white teeth. Rachel giggled a little when she saw how happy Cody looked just cause Sarah was talking to him. He practically skipped over to the table to set the books down. Turning back to Sarah he laid a hand on her arm.

"So…we still on for Friday?" He asked in a loud enough voice so the whole lunch room heard. Eric snorted at Cody. Some days he could be so brainless.

"Sure Cody, see you at eight." Sarah said leaning toward him and giving him a quick peck on the cheek. "Bye bye now." She said sitting down. Cody stood there for a moment with his eyes still closed. Finally when he did open his eyes he had a goofy grin on his face.

"Yo man, go." Someone yelled at him, tossing an empty milk cartoon across the room, and hitting him square on the back of the head. He turned an evil glare to the side of the room the cartoon came from. But he only received laughs from the whole room. Turning around he gave Sarah a smile, but it slowly turned to a frown when he saw she was laughing to. With his head down he walked out of the room. His hand grabbed the duffel bag string tightly.

"Sarah." Rachel screamed at her, hitting her on the shoulder.

"What?" She asked confused.

Rachel rolled her eyes at how stupid her friend could be. "You hurt his feelings. He even carried your books Sarah."

"So…he'll get over it." She said opening her purse and pulling out that stupid compact of hers. Taking out her lip gloss she started applying it to her full lips. Rachel rolled her eyes and turned back toward Eric, who was flirting with the head cheerleader. She had your typical cheerleader looks, blond hair and blue eyes. Rachel, who had talked to her, knew she was smarter then the other cheerleaders. She said she just never wanted to show it, she said it hurts your chances at getting guys. Rachel smirked when she saw Eric lean over and kiss her quickly on the lips, making her blush with embarrassment. Feeling like she was somehow butting in, she moved her eyes to the rest of the lunch room.

Their table being the 'popular' table, the ones lining the right side of the wall were for the jokers and class clowns. On the other side of the wall were the jocks, and their blond bimbos. Rachel rolled her eyes when she saw her ex-boyfriend Tyler kissing that stupid Casey. She let her eyes move to the rest of the lunch room, searching for him. The boy she saw in biology class. Rachel couldn't get him off her mind, not since she first laid eyes on him. Letting her eyes scan over to the court yard outside, she saw him with his friends. They were all lying by the tree smoking and drinking. The whole school knew them as nothing but pot heads, and trouble makers. Most of them were Goths, but a few were just labeled 'weirdoes. Nicolo was leaning up against the tree and he held a cigarette in his right hand.

She felt a tap on her shoulder, but she still didn't take her eyes off of him. He looked happy just sitting there hanging with his friends. Another tap made Rachel turn her eyes off of him and look back at her friends.

"What?" She hissed once again, mad that they made her take her eyes off of him.

Sarah was staring at her with a confused look on her face. "The bell rang dumb ass." She said whacking Rachel on the back of the head. Rachel looked around her and saw everyone getting up and leaving. She rolled her eyes, but nevertheless got up. Grabbing her bags in her arms she started walking out of the room with Sarah right on her heel.

"Just stay away from him." Sarah said before walking off down the hall to her history class. Rachel rolled her eyes at her stupid friend. Just then the final bell rang making Rachel jump from surprise. She quickly ran to her locker and flung it open. Grabbing out her gym shoes she shut her locker, and ran off down the hall to the gym room.

--

Rachel pulled up to her two story house. Parking her red mustang, she stuffed her keys in her purse and opened her door. Getting out she held her books in her arms, and walked up to her front door. Rachel wouldn't say she was rich, but she did have it made. Her father was a well known lawyer, and her mother was a doctor at the local hospital. Opening the door she laid her purse down on the small stool by the door, and shut the door. "Mom...Dad?" She called out, only to receive no reply. Rolling her eyes she walked in to the kitchen, and took a seat on one of the chairs by the island.

"Hello Miss, what can I get you?" A voice broke her from her trance making her jump completely out of her chair. "I'm so sorry, Miss." Came the same voice.

"It's quite all right." Rachel said standing up and turning around toward the voice. Standing in front of her was the family’s butler. Yes…they did have a butler. With a house as big as theirs, they needed one.

"What can I get you Miss?" He asked once again standing up straight and keeping his hands by his sides.

"Where's the parents?" Rachel asked standing up and walking over to the silver fridge. She opened it up and grabbed a coke. Opening it up she waited for the butlers reply.

"They’re at work miss, like always."

"Like always." Rachel mocked walking in to the family room. Jumping on the couch she threw her legs on the glass coffee table in front of her. She reached for the remote that was on the coffee table, but she couldn't quite grasp it. "James...James." She called for the butler; a moment later he came rushing in.

"What is it Miss?" He asked hunching over trying to catch his breath. Old age was really catching up with him. Rachel didn't say anything, but pointed a long red finger nail at the remote. He sighed, but reached down and grabbed it for her. "If I give this to you, you've got to promise to do your homework before your parents get home." He said, holding the remote up in the air so she couldn't reach it.

"Fine. I promise." She grumbled catching the remote in her hands. Turning back to the tv shegrabed herhomework. God, she hated Mr. Baker so much. A few minutes in to her work she threw down her pencil and sighed with frustration. She’d been on that same problem for the past ten minutes now. to the TV she switched through channels, trying to find something to watch.

James the butler walked back over to the stool by the door, and grabbed her books in his old boney hands. Walking back over to her he dropped them in to her lap. "Homework." Was the last thing he said before walking back in to the kitchen to prepare dinner. After a few more times switching through the channels she finally gave up. Tossing the remote on the coffee table, she stood up, catching her books before they fell. She walked in to the kitchen and sat on the stool, laying her books on the island.

"What you cooking?" She asked James who was standing over the stove with a serious look on his face.

"Just some pasta." He said not taking his eyes off of the bowl.

Rachel could practically hear her stomach growl with hunger. Opening up her math book she started doing tonight’s Standing up, she walked over to James, just to see what he was doing. Anything to get her mind off of math.

"Mmm...that smells too good." Rachel said reaching a finger down in the bowl only to get a light slap on the hand. "Why’re you making so much...you know mom and dad won't be here in time to eat." She said, leaning back against the counter.

"You never know Miss." He said, continuing stirring.

"Whatever." Rachel said, going back over to her homework.
