Hey, guys! "Season 2" of Dimension Heroes is coming down the pike in a few weeks, so to whet your appetites, here's a sneak peek at, not just one, but two brand new chapters, both set for release Saturday, August 16th for a double-dose of Guardian action! And what's more, you can enjoy the new storyline in a traditional story format as opposed to the scripted format for book 1 (which I do plan to rewrite in a traditional format at some point and time). So, without further ado, here's a preview for Chapter 14: Departure for Angel Mountain:

The rebuilding of Feldnaut City was quick to begin. After combing the city for signs of anything that could possibly pose a threat to it and finding none, authorities sent forth the word to begin repairing the staggering number of destroyed homes and businesses throughout the town. Citizens, still shaken by the nightmarish ordeal they had all gone through the day prior, tried their hardest to go about their day as if things were perfectly normal.

But really, how could they expect to do so? Over the past few weeks there was no avoiding the news reports of mysterious monsters appearing throughout the city and causing chaos. Most who had never seen one of the so-called monsters in the flesh simply shrugged the reports off and went about their business.

Yesterday, however, proved to be the final day there would be any doubters. The various isolated incidents involving the creatures were nothing compared to what that day brought upon the hapless citizens; a group of five monsters tore through Feldnaut City, wiping entire districts off the map and sending everyone into a panic. They could do little more than cower in the makeshift shelters, listen to the city above being ripped apart, wonder how the miltary would fare against the fierce creatures, and ponder just where exactly they had come from and what they wanted. Many thought the end of the world had come.

What a relief it proved to be when they were given an all-clear signal and allowed to return to the surface. However, their sense of security had been completely shattered when they realized the extent of the damage the city had undertaken, the monsters nowhere to be seen. They appeared safe for now, but several questions remained...questions that no one knew the answers to.

“City authorities are baffled as to who the mysterious man truly was or what happened to him and his group of monsters,” stated the newscaster from a TV set sitting in a hardware store window, “but defense forces assure them that they will keep on the watch 24/7 for signs of any new suspicious activity and take it down without question.”

A passerby scoffed to his friend as they walked past the display. “Yeah, right. They did such a great job before.”

“Well, it looks like they got rid of them, didn't they?” said the other guy. “I ain't worried anymore.”

Chip Stamper had never seen so much construction work in the sixteen years he had lived in Feldnaut City. Everywhere he turned there was another damaged building being tended to, workers feverishly moving from one job to the next without a moment to catch their breath. They sure have their work cut out for them, he thought to himself. I'm so glad everything is finally going to go back to normal.

While many employees were less than thrilled about the work they had to do (many simply cleaning up whatever messes the big attack had caused), Brittany Housley was humming and twirling about happily as she stocked shelves at the grocery store she worked in. Lucky for her, it remained relatively undamaged.

“You sure seem chipper this morning, Miss Housley,” her manager pointed out as she walked by.

“Oh, I guess it's just one of those days!” Brittany smiled, knowing that there was, of course, more to it than that. Now that the Creturians are gone, it feels like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I'm even happy to be here at work early in the morning!

Chip made his way to the front of the line of the coffee shop. Behind the counter, Tami Webb turned around from her work and smiled. “Hey, Chip, how are you?” she asked, happy to see her former teammate.

“Heh, you sound like you haven't seen me in months,” commented Chip. “I've never felt more relaxed than I do right now.”

“Then might I suggest you get decaf?” Tami said with a giggle.

“Ha ha. I just might. You know, I was never a coffee drinker until the Creturians first appeared.”

Tami put her head in her hands. There were no customers waiting, so she could afford to talk to Chip for a while. “Hee hee, I bet you drank coffee by the pot after that, huh?”

“Nah, half a pot was sufficient. Had to save some for my parents, you know.”

Rob Anthony was neither working nor out socializing. After the big battle with Clonar, all he wanted to do was laze around his apartment in front of the air conditioner. “Normally I'd be complaining about being bored right about now,” he said to himself as he let his head sink into a throw pillow, “but for some reason...just lounging about feels really good.”

About twenty miles away, Wyn Locke walked briskly through a meadow. The sojourner had been stuck in Feldnaut City for about a month, helping Rob and crew in their fight against Clonar. With the threat vanquished, he resumed his journey, traversing wherever the wind took him. And on a beautiful, carefree summer day like today, the feel of the cool wind lapping against his face felt great. Caught up in his relaxation, he didn't even notice the faint holographic image fizzling in and out on the Guardian band rested on his arm.

Also going unnoticed were the faint holographic images fizzling in and out on the other Guardian bands—Brittany's on her vanity in her room, Tami's on her bedpost, Chip's in his desk drawer, and Rob's on the doorknob of his room door. A voice faded in and out along with the image: “--uardians--ome in—Dimensio—ardia--”

As if an invisible barrier had just been blasted away, the image exploded onto Wyn's Guardian band with a brilliant flash of blue light, catching him by surprise. He gazed at the crystal clear image of a mustachioed man in awe.

“Guardians! Come in!” the man said, his voice now coming in clearly, as well.

“What the--?!” exclaimed Wyn, blinking several times.

“Good,” said the man. “I finally managed to establish a connection with you.”

The man paused as he and Wyn stared at each other for a few moments. “What? You're just a boy.”

“Yeah, last time I checked,”said Wyn. “And what exactly are you supposed to be?”

The man cleared his throat.”Ah, yes, please forgive my rudeness. My name is Gubaru, and I have something of the utmost urgency to discuss with you and any others who have happened to stumble upon the Guardian powers.”

Wyn crossed his arms, pulling Gubaru's image closer to his face. “Uh, okay. And just what would that urgent matter be?”

“First of all, I have a question for you. We've detected five of the activated Guardian bands in close vicinity over the last several weeks, so would it not be reasonable for me to assume you're associated with other ones with Guardian powers?”

“I'd say that's for me to know and you to possibly find out. Why exactly should I tell you anything?”

“Because...” Gubaru paused, as if intentionally trying to build dramatic tension. “I was the Commander of the original Dimensional Guardians.”

Needless to say, Wyn was taken aback.

Next, we have a preview for Chapter 15: A Rocky Start. Just wait and see what kind of wacky misadventures our heroes are getting into!

They entered the room, quickly noticing a suspicious circular platform nestled in the upper right corner with an inactive computer console sitting beside it.

“Looks like a transporter to me,” said Chip.

“Very good,” said Gubaru. “Now, I'll need you to turn it on, type in an activation code, and set the co-ordinates.”

Rob turned to Chip. “Chip, you'd better do it. You're the tech whiz here.”

“Sure, I can do it.” Chip walked up to the console and studied it's vast array of buttons. “Just walk me through it, Gubaru.”

“We made our way through the fortress without a hitch,” Brittany pointed out. “I'm surprised how smoothly everything went.”

A fire and electric blast crashing in front of her feet instantly made things not-so-smooth.

Tami threw up her arms. “I knew something like that was going to happen!”

An electric and fire blast attack consecutively only meant one thing: someone was in the fortress with them, and as much as they hated the thought, they knew just who that someone—or rather, those somebodies—were.

“Going somewhere?” snickered Troy as he and his brother Trey walked into the room.

“Don't you imbeciles ever learn your lesson?” Wyn snapped.

“I guess not,” Trey replied. “We happened to listen in on your little transmission the other day, and thought we'd stop by to wish you off.”

Troy butted in: “And by 'wish you off', he means we're gonna destroy you.” He nodded his head, pleased at his contribution to the conversation.

“...yes, Troy. Thanks for clearing it up for them.” Trey sneered at the Guardians. “And you call us imbeciles. This has been our base of operations since Clonar first showed up in this world. You'd have to be pretty stupid to snoop around our fortress and not expect us to be nearby. And we don't take kindly to uninvited guests.”

Rob sighed an exasperated sigh. He and his friends had taken those two down every time they'd fought, and even after they destroyed their former master, they still had the gall to challenge them. “What makes you think you have any more of a chance of beating us now than you have any other time we've fought?”

Flames circled around Troy's hands. “Because this time, you have more to worry about protecting that just yourselves!” As he spoke, he launched a fire blast at the transporter console.

Wyn was quick to act. “Dimensional Guardians, power up!” Without time to launch a counterattack, he jumped in the way of the blast, which knocked him into the console.

Chip jumped, concerned more about the state of the console than the state of Wyn. “Hey, careful!”

Pressed against the console, Wyn tilted his head towards Chip and snapped: “Well, excuse me!”

Brittany jumped in front of the console and volunteered to help Wyn protect it as Rob and Tami fought with Trey and Troy. They transformed and prepared to fight.

Despite the fact that he and his brother were outnumbered two to five, Trey had an oddly good feeling about duking it out with his enemies. “This should be fun! Electric Shock!”

Gubaru pulled a shaken Chip's attention back to the business at hand. “Okay, Chip, let's do this quickly.”

“Right.” Being familiar with all types of technology, Chip had little problem finding the “on” switch. “How exactly do you know the activation code?” he asked Gubaru as the machine clicked and whirred to life.

“We're experts in dimensional travel with the most sophisticated equipment in the multiverse,” said Gubaru with a hint of pride in his voice. “Trust me, we can figure it out.”

Within a few moments, the machine was fully active. Chip struggled to hear Gubaru's voice over the sound of the fighting:“The activation code is 1-5-4-2-6-8-3.”

Chip typed in the numbers as fast as his fingers could fly across the keyboard.

“Now the machine is asking for co-ordinates,” he mentioned.

“You'll have to bear with me, this is a long one...input 3-8-5-5...”

Gubaru rattled off what seemed to be an endless line of numbers. Chip entered them one after another, one hundred ten percent of his concentration focused on his work. Suddenly, a stray blast striking the wall above him knocked his concentration down a good seventy-five percent. “Are we anywhere near done?? It's getting hairy in here!”

“Almost, just listen carefully.” Gubaru paused for a moment, seemingly frazzled at having lost his place. “Now, what are the last few numbers we entered, again?”

Chip smacked his forehead.

Trey and Troy almost didn't care that their fight with the Guardians was proving to be yet another losing battle. The sheer thrill of fighting their mortal enemies was keeping them going.

“All right, that should do it!” Gubaru announced with a sigh of relief. “Go ahead and activate it!”

Chip pressed a big button on the console. Instantly, a giant beam of blue light shot out from the circular platform. “It's on!” he exclaimed. “...I think.

Gubaru waved him on. “Then hurry and go!”

Chip turned to his teammates struggling to fight off Trey and Troy. “Guys, it's working! Let's go for it!”

Rob and Tami knocked Trey and Troy away. “It's been fun, guys,” he snickered, “but we have places to go.” He and Tami dashed towards the transporter as Chip, Brittany, and Wyn disappeared into the swirling warp.

“You're not leaving this world alive!” Without thinking, as per usual, Troy launched a powerful fire blast at the fleeing Guardians. Before the attack could hit them, Rob and Tami dove into the blue light and disappeared in a flash just as the fire blast rocked the machine, sending sparks flying and the machine offline with a hiss.

“What?? No!!” Trey yelled.

After effectively destroying their only chance to take down the Dimensional Guardians, now in another world completely out of their reach, all Troy could mutter was, “Oops. Sorry.”

Trey stared at the smoking machine as the thought of never settling the score with the other Guardians festered in his mind. They had a lot to pay for. And he knew that somehow, someway, he was going to make them pay. Somehow...

Yes, the Guardians thought that Clonar was the biggest threat to their world, but little do they realize that Clonar was simply the harbinger of a much greater terror. The stakes skyrocket as they find their way to Creturia itself in search of a power source that will save both worlds from destroying one another. And if having to explore the lush mountains, vast deserts, and open seas of another world wasn't enough, looming in a shadows is a sinister force that makes Clonar's dark powers pale in comparison!
