Those many years ago,

The corroded gates opened before me

I took my first steps into the unknown:

Who was to know what await me

In the mysterious jungle ahead

-

I remember many pale faces

Of anxious children unknown,

I remember many places yet

Uncharted, unexplored

I remember the fragrant wisteria

That bloomed in the springtime,

And the grassy plains that flourished

Beneath the summer sky

-

I remember the archaic figtree

Who would whisper her exultant song

And the majestic morning crows,

Who woke the weary sun

-

In these few days remaining,

The corroded gates open before me

I take my final steps into the known:

Who is to know what awaits me

In that mysterious jungle ahead

-

The teachers I knew,

The textbooks that wrought me,

The changes I felt and

Friendships abundant

Forever shall I carry

The flame of passion within me,

-

Always shall I heed,

The voice of courage that compels me

To take this mighty journey:

The Path of Return.
