Never Enough

Fill a thimble with my thoughts,

Fill a basket with my dreams.

On the ladder of success,

I’m bursting at the seams.

I can’t wait to fall into night’s arms,

After a day of exhausting trials.

I do all I can but it’s never enough.

I even pour the poison into the vials.

My wishes are buried deep into the earth.

And my hopes grow on orange trees.

They grow so high up in the sky,

When I call for aid no one hears my pleas.

The moon knows my hardships and she understands.

I always tell my heartaches to her in the sky.

She loves me, I know she does.

And with that thought my eyes remain dry.
