they told me yesterday what happened
you left a note and took a drive
but you never came back home

a world & a half apart
your light is still on
the only thing i can think of
"did i not care enough?"

i wear your bracelet now.

and maybe ten years from now
i can smile again when i pass
where the car hit the curb
or hear the soft, sweet sound
of mozart on the cello
maybe then it won't hurt so much

perhaps i will eat peanut butter again
without crying into my crackers
