Read My Lips

Every time I saw you

And said “shalom,

Or hugged you and whispered

“Goodbye”

You thought I was kidding

And you told yourself,

“Forget her.

She means nothing.”

-

But you mean everything to me

And I wish I’d seen that before

Because now it’s too late

And everything leads to nothing

When nothing is everything.

-

So maybe you’ll be my nobody

And I can be your nothing

Since we all end up

No ones with no face.

It’s just like the song,

I thought you were different

But you couldn’t even read my lips

And you didn’t even hear what I said.

-

Every time I hugged you,

Words tumbled down

And spilled like rain (geshem)

Onto your shoulder,

Stiff and strong.

You heard me say goodbye,

But missed my final words.

-

“I love you,

Ahuvati.”

A/N-Ahh I love the song Ahuvati by Machina. Anyway this was kind of inspired by that... Kind of.

Hebrew Translations:

Shalom- Hello, peace, goodbye; here it's used as "hello"

Geshem- Rain

Ahuvati- My beloved

Love,
