Chapter 2
I awoke to find myself facing a ceiling. Being tied to a bed in a dark room was just not my favorite way to wake up in the morning these days. I had no idea where I was so I just tried to remain calm and remember what had happened. A door opened.
“Hello, my love.” A male voice said. The man leaned over the bed and I saw his face clearly. Everything came back to me. The darkness, the man, the... blood.
“Oh shit!” I said out loud on accident. The man called Kenneth chuckled. He sat on the edge of the bed next to me. I attempted to move away but the ropes help me in place.
“What the hell did you do to me!!” I almost screamed at his face. He just smiled at me.
“I think you know the answer to that, darling.” I gulped. I did. But I wasn’t going to admit it. I had to be dreaming.
“Let me out! Let me go!” I attempted to kick but in a flash he was laying on top of me covering my mouth with his. I screamed, well, as well as I could with his tongue being shoved down my throat. He pulled away.
“Now my love. If I untie you will you promise not to run away.”
“Not likely scum bag!” I hissed at him.
“My, my, such a temper. But then again, that’s what I like.”
I was quiet then.
No reason to edge him on. Just stay calm I thought to myself.
“Staying calm would be a good idea. If you do I’ll be able to untie you.”
“Wha-“ I stuttered confused.
Had I said that out loud?
“Of course not! I’m a vampire, I read minds you know!”
You fucking kidnapper, get out of my head!
“Tisk, tisk. Such language does not fit such an elegant name. Lilina.” I glared at him sharply as I said this.
“Fine! Just untie me!”
“Yes, my love.” He walked over and undid my legs first. Then moved over to my hands. He hurried away so that I wouldn’t lash out at him. He was right to do so because at this point I would. I sat up on the bed as soon as I was able to and rubbed my wrist, ow, rope burn.
Stupid vampire.
Kenneth walked over to me slowly. And stared at me for a minute.
“Lets get you some clothes that are better suited. Oh, and I wouldn’t try anything if I were you. You’ve seen how fast I can be. Try anything and you’ll be dead in a matter of seconds.” He wandered over to a closet in the room. He pulled out a blood red dress. It was flowing and looked like one worn to a prom. It was beautiful. He threw it toward me on the bed. Then went to a dresser in the corner and pulled out red lipstick and black eyeliner, both of which he threw to me. I was to shocked to really do anything. So I just stared at him.
“Well, get dressed, my love. Tonight you’ll hunt. Learn our ways. Then maybe I’ll give you a taste of something better.” In a flash he was no longer standing by the dresser but instead, his lips were upon mine. I realized this and leaned backward to get away. He grinned. And walked out the door.
What should I do? I wasn’t sure but with him probably guarding the door I stood no chance of getting out. Maybe… tonight when we went “hunting”. Yes, that would be perfect. A crowd, I could do it.
So I slipped on the red dress, it fit me perfectly, hugged all my curves and for a second I thought I looked almost good. I then applied the lipstick and eyeliner like he wanted me to. Obeying just so I could stab him in the back.
I figured he most likely had people before me. I read books, vampires was even one of the things I loved to read about. I wasn’t some fool like they probably were. I had an advantage. I was cleverer…er...
To tell the truth... I was still shocked. Ever since I was a little girl I had always been fascinated with the dark. I love running into creepy old houses. And I always with all my might prayed vampires were real. I had wanted to be a vampire my entire life. Up till now, cause well, now I was dead. I had everything planned out for when I found a vampire. But now everything was so different from my imagination.
I expected to find a vampire and black mail him or her, into changing me. then when they did, I would kill them after. I knew everything. I didn’t need a sire telling me what to do and making me follow them around.
So, this boy… was definitely a surprise. It was a weird start to my favorite nightmare.
“Knock, knock,” He said knocking on the door while opening it. “My, you look lovely this evening.” His strait blond hair that contained red streaks reached barely reached his shoulders. He wore black pants and a black silk top. Very flashy.
“Are you ready to go, baby?”
“As ready as you are.” I smiled fake but lovingly.
“Good, lets get going, the night is still young.” He came in and took my hand in his and tugged me toward the door. Reluctantly I followed. I’d have to follow his lead until I could figure out what I wanted to do… was I really a vampire? That quickly? Just like that… it had no romance or action or anything cool about it. And I have to say that kinda bummed me out.
We walked out the door of an old creaky building on the top of a hill. I had no idea where I was, which was more than likely the point.
“So… How did you get into my bedroom? Vampires cant cross thresholds unless invited.” I pointed out. He chuckled and slid his hand around my waist.
“Well, first off, not everything you hear about us vampires is true, but you’ll find that out in time.” He chuckled again. “Second, I came in through your window. So it wasn’t your threshold now was it?”
I glared daggers at him. “So.. I’m not dreaming right? I mean.. I really am a….”
“A vampire. Yes. Wanna check it out?” he grinned like a child with a new toy as he pulled out a little mirror from his pocket. I took it are looked into it.
No reflection.
“Whoa…wait... Why the hell do you have a little mirror with you?” I asked not at all phased by my lack of reflection. I’d dreamt about this so much. I was happier about the blank mirror than freaked out.
He chuckled again. It as really getting annoying.
“Well, when one lives surrounded by people, one can never know if there is one of your kind among them. So instead of walking up and saying ‘hey, are you a vampire?’ you just look at them in the mirror. Comes in handy when I think I’m being follow by another one of my kind who wants to kill me.”
Duh. That was pretty logical. I guess there was a lot I still hadn’t thought of.
“So.. Kenneth… where are we going?”
“Oh I think you’ll enjoy it there. The one and only, Coffin Club”
I was taken aback and stopped walking.
“Really? You’re not teasing me are you?” he urged me forward and I began walking again
“What, you thought that place didn’t really exist? I’ve been watching you, Lilina. I watched you sit in you room at midnight, turning pages in Vampire Kisses. Which is you’re favorite book, is it not?”
“… It is…”
“So I thought I’d surprise you.” He smiled, enjoying my gleeful reaction.
“So wait-“ I clicked to me that this was still the bad guy and I had to be careful. I couldn’t let myself get caught up in everything.
“Yes??”
“You’ve been watching me?”
A sly smile made its way across his face.
“I do believe this is a conversation for another time. We’re here.”
I stared up at the entrance in love. I was in love. I felt like I was about to implode. Kenneth led me inside. I looked all around me, hoping to find my favorite character, Jagger. Even thought I knew he was just a character in a book. But then again… a few hours ago I was beginning to think I’d never get to be a vampire. I was getting caught up in everything.
