The Twilight Traveler

A lone girl travels along a dusty road

everyone else has abandoned

Her world has disappeared

The sun sets

another day passes that

no one else knows her.

Just like this dusty road

everyone has abandoned her.

The girl – now a woman - stares upon

the approaching twilight, and wonders...

Her world once sparkled

with sunlight and joy

she and her sister

ran happily under the sky.

Then, evil swept across the land,

an opposing wave

swept all the joy away.

She retreated from the darkness.

Wished for the light to return.

No one noticed her

and she saw the sun set.

A candle was snuffed

The light went out.

She did not succumb to darkness

But she could not find the light.

She became absorbed in twilight

And there, travels alone.
