she cries out,
“Take me to
Amsterdam!”

and he laughs, enjoys
while sipping his decaf tea,
reaching for her notebook
to begin to plot weeks of
decadence

o boy!, what happens when
I’m given a pencil
and some place to write

as she slips it smoothly
under her coffee (black)
cup

my scientist!
he feels affectionately
as she chicken
scribbles on
a napkin

we’ll grow
atemporal,
touching the clouds
as if tapping a balloon
back and forth
in a world where
the ocean grows stars
& the fish swim out of
the design on breakfast
bowls, and we’ll make
love in the shower
with flowers
falling around us
on the otherwise
clear curtain, so we
can watch ourselves
in a fogging mirror

God! she calls out,
I’m so excited!
as his warm hand
holds hers on the
way out of the
shop
