You stand and watch
As your people fade away.
Skin clings to the bone
As dust to the hillside;
Each is as bare as the other.
Their mouths are parched
As empty riverbeds;
Each cry for water.
And as they die one by one,
So does their hope gutter.
What a terrible crime you have committed,
To have crushed a flame
Given to your people by God.
You stand and watch
As your people fade away-
And your heart is stone.
