(BUT STILL READ IT!)Well first off I have to make sure I;m not ripping anyone off but I kinda am so here are the copywrite stuff and credits; First Love: Utada Hikaru and Anything for you: Evanescence. Now back to your regulated stuff...
BUY A FLOWER FOR YOUR LOVED ONE! ONLY $5 PER ROSE!
That’s basically what every sign said around Citron academy. I hate Valentines Day. The guy that I like won’t even think about liking me let alone getting me something that shows affection. Claire thought sadly. With her shoulders slouched, she gave a long sigh. I haven’t ever gotten a Valentine from a guy that actually wanted to give me one.
“Hey want to but a rose?” The girl at the counter asked her.
“If I wanted to buy one I would have been standing in line.” Claire shot back in an annoyed tone making the girl glare at her.
She turned to her friend a whispered to her, “Well I know one person who’s not getting one.” The other girls nodded and giggled.
One more reason as to why I hate this holiday.
“Oi! What’s up Claire?” Misty asked popping up behind Claire making her jump. “Scared ya didn’t I?”
“Yes!” Claire said clutching her heart, “So… uh what are you doing here anyway?”
“I think that I asked you a question first Claire. Answer it… or wait, I think that I know. Is it about you-know-who?” Claire nodded. “Thought as much. Just stop worrying about it. It’s not that bad all right, I mean I’m sure that he notices you just not in that way right?”
Claire nodded again, “Yeah but still…”
“No more of your suicidal sadist comments! How about this; you, me, Brittany and Kari all go out and get some supplies, rent movies and have a movie marathon.”
“Eh, I guess it’s better then what I normally do.”
“Which is what?” The girl at the counter asked.
“I make voodoo dolls with the hair of the people who annoy me and take pins from the sewing room and… well the rest is self explanatory.” Claire smirked as the girl who had just insulted Claire paled and gasped. “C’mon, let’s go and find Kari and Brittany and tell them the plan.” Misty nodded, mouthed a ‘sorry’ to the girl and followed her friend.
“You Violent Little Prude!” Someone yelled clutching her nose. “You broke my nose!” She shrieked.
“If you ask me it’s an improvement.” The other girl said.
“Brittany, l-let’s g-go.”
“Kari lighten up, Amy has had it coming. After Claire told me about that little comment she said about Eric I’ve been meaning to do this for weeks!” Brittany told her.
“Humph, I only said the truth.”
Brittany snorted, “Do you want something else broken to?”
“What is going on here!” Professor Matthews asked them, “Well?” She gave a loud sigh, “Never mind. But you all have to go to the Dining Hall. The Headmaster has requested it that everyone will be attending.” Brittany, Kari, Amy and everyone else that was watching started to walk away.
“Do you think that it’ll work?” Professor White asked.
“Well I hope so… and if not I suppose a little more help before the date could help speed things along.” He winked at her.
“I cannot believe that you would consider meddling even more then you already have!” Professor White scolded.
“Norma it is not meddling, I am merely helping an attraction that has only been growing.”
Professor White huffed, “I doubt that! Besides, how do you know that he feels the same? You cannot assume that he loves her when he doesn’t even want to think about her.”
“Ah but there is where you’re wrong Norma. I’m guessing that you do not see how often he looks at her throughout the meals or on the playing fields for that matter.”
“And you can?” She shot back.
“As a matter of fact, yes. I can see quite a lot from my office on the top floor and the Head Table as well.” He told her with an all knowing look in his eye.
Knowing that she would eventually lose Professor White decided to quit while she was ahead SIGH, “As long as you know what you are doing Headmaster.”
“Of course.”
“Smooth.” Brittany said sarcastically.
“You know it. Now I think that we should all go grab our money and get our clothes for the dance!” Misty said excitedly.
“S-sure.”
“Pfft, I’m still going in jeans and maybe if I feel nice a tank-top.”
“No.”
“No?” They all repeated.
“Correct I said no.” And there’s nothing you can do about it. The three girls exchanged evil looks, Well that’s a first from Kari… wait what are they… “ARGH! This is illegal!” Claire screamed out in vain as the three dragged her away.
A little while later the four girls walked into the dressmakers and were looking around, “I-I like this o-one…” Kari said pulling out a long flowing maroon dress.
Misty’s eyes went a little larger then what they normally do when she saw the dress, “You’re getting it. And don’t even try to say that you don’t have enough money!” She nodded and waited for her friends to get their dresses. Three hours later Misty picked out a shapely black dress, Brittany decided to get nothing and after an hour of convincing Claire got a midnight blue dress.
“I still don’t see the point of this. I’m not going.”
“Oh yes you are.” Misty persisted.
For some reason I can feel that I’m going to loose this one way or another. Grumbling, Claire agreed.
The three girls high-fived each other on a job well done and set off to the movie rental and soon back to the Academy.
“This was a complete waste of time!” Claire moaned for the, what seemed like the one hundredth time.
“Ah shut up!” Brittany snapped finally.
“Humph, I didn’t want to come-”
“WE KNOW!” Misty and Brittany screamed loudly. Claire and Kari both cringed at the sheer annoyance and possible threat that registered from their voices.
“P-people are starting t-to st-stare. M-maybe y-you all s-should j-j-just calm down and…” They obviously weren’t listening so Kari decided to do something that normally doesn’t happen, “SHUT UP!” Brittany stood as stoic as ever while Clare and Misty stared open mouthed at her. Ahem, “Ah, so-sorry b-but maybe w-we should leave.” Kari told them motioning to the sky that was just starting to turn a rather dark blue signaling that it was near seven O’clock
Misty looked a little shocked, “My, my, my where does the day go? Well I guess we should head back before were late to dinner.”
“It’s after curfew. We’ll be lucky not to get caught by the teachers let alone the loud students that are over populating the school.” Brittany said with a slight grin playing at her lips.
“So now what are we going to do?”
Brittany’s grin turned into a full-fledged smile, “Were going to have some fun.” She told them running back to the Academy at a near sprint.
“We should really tell her to join the Track Team. She’s faster then half of them already!” Misty said catching her breath as she ran trying to keep-up with Brittany.
“Did you say something Mist?” Claire joked.
“I loathe you right now.” Claire just smirked and ran ahead.
Once they were all together again the sky was pitch-black; Kari, Misty and Claire stopped breathless beside Brittany who held her hand up in silence. “Shh, wait here for a sec.” She said plainly before walking close to the wall almost perfectly blending into the wall. A minute later she came back, motioning for them to follow.
She looks like a ninja or something the way she moves in the dark. Claire thought as they stopped at what looked like a locked door. What? “Where are we?” She looked around.
“Just outside the East corridor. I found this the first year I was here.” She made an ‘oh’ sounding noise with her mouth. “Now if I could just find the right brick…” She pushed on about three bricks before the door opened. “There. Now follow me but remember don’t make a sound.” She tiptoed through the hole and waited for everyone to get in before she closed it, making sure that it was as undetectable as it was before she opened it.
“Ok so now what? The teachers are patrolling around the corridors and we need to go to the other side of the Academy before any of them find us.” Misty pointed out, Kari and Claire nodded in agreement.
“We could always cut across the gym… although that may be where most of the teachers are…”
Kari looked around in a concerned motion and her eyes landed on a faint beam of light in the background, “T-teacher…” The others had ‘what the heck?’ looks on their faces before they saw the light.
“Cheese it!” Claire shouted out, none too brightly.
“IDIOT! NOW THEY HEARD US!” Misty shouted, whacking Claire on the head.
“Hey is anyone there? Hello?”
“Shit,” Brittany swore, “It’s Professor Karachi!” They stared at her. “Just because I don’t go to a lot of classes doesn’t mean that I don’t know who they are.”
“Right.” They all nodded starting another sprint.
“Amen to that.” Claire whispered to Misty who hit her on the back.
“What was that Miss Valone?” He asked, staring directly at her.
“I was just saying Sir, that you’re right. I mean, why do we celebrate Valentines Day? I think that it’s just another excuse for the big people to get bigger and a good reason to commit suicide when you don’t get what you want from the guy, or girl, you like.” She said with a shrug of her shoulders.
He nodded at her, “Well said Miss Valone, well said. Now on a related note you will have a little quiz today, the winner will get this,” He held up a rose, and Claire’s eyes sparkled with promise, “And get this through your heads, I did NOT want to do anything for this stupid holiday. The other teachers forced me. Persistent buggers. Now,” He pointed to the board. “These are your questions get some paper and start.”
I have to win this! I need to get something out of this stupid holiday! And something from Professor Jay would be like… Inner sigh. Claire shook her head, All right, time to get to work! Question one: What do you think of Valentines Day? I think that he means in his own opinion and not ours. OK, OK pretty simple.
Ten questions and fifteen minutes later Professor Jay collected all of the papers and soon after that he looked up, “Well, well, well, Miss Valone. Congratulations, you win.” He threw the rose to her, and she deftly caught it. “Miss Valone was the only one to see through the questions and answer them properly. Why is that Miss Valone?”
She cleared her throat, “It’s because Sir, that if they were all our opinions, then everyone would get them right, because personal opinions cannot be wrong.”
“Correct. But the rest of you idiots put down some lovey, dovey crap that I was ashamed to read.” He glared at them.
The PA turned on, “Please excuse this interruption, but could all Year, fives, six’s, and sevens please report to the gym to help with the preparations for the dance. This will take the rest of the day with small breaks for lunch and dinner. Thank you for your cooperation.”
Professor Jay glared at the PA. “Alright go. And don’t make it too sickening.” There were some nods as they all scampered out of the classroom.
Claire groaned, “You have GOT to be kidding me, SHE’S in charge of this? Well this is going to be as much fun as a barrel full of monkeys.”
“A barrel full of monkeys isn’t fun, it’s horrifying.” Brittany remarked dully as she popped a heart-shaped balloon with her fingernails. People around them jumped at the sudden sound, Amy also whirled around and grinned widely.
“Oh, ho, ho what do we have here? Claire and her little gang of miscreants.” She looked at the popped balloon with annoyance, “You had better blow up another one to replace it Dissan.” Amy spat out.
“Pfft, you wish.” Brittany walked away and sat down on one of the newly put down chairs. Misty and them soon followed collapsing on the comfy chairs.
“Ooh! I wonder what happened to her nose? It looks SO much better!” Claire squealed out in delight at the sight of Amy's nose with the white strip on it.
“Me.” Brittany said taking credit.
“Me?” Claire repeated none too brightly.
“No, me.”
“You? You what? You fixed her nose?”
“Yes!” She cried out in exasperation.
There was a long pause, “Oh! Congratulations then… uh what are we doing here anyway? I mean were not really doing anything.”
“Welcome to what I do everyday.” Brittany said taking a chair from under James making him fall.
“Hurting James?” Misty asked.
“No, skipping class. But just in a different way.”
Misty tackled her friend, “For the last time STOP being angsty! It’s one day in the year so deal. With. IT!” She said slowly getting off of her Claire.
“Ouch. Didn’t have to tackle me though.” Claire said rubbing her head a little more forcefully then necessary.
“W-we have a no-note. I th-think that it’s from the H-Headmaster.” Kari told them.
Brittany snatched the note, “Pfft I thought as much.”
“What?”
“The Headmaster has a little note at the bottom telling me that I have to dress-up nice. Stupid Old Man.” Brittany cursed him for a moment before talking again, “Now what am I going to wear?”
“I have a skirt…” Misty offered.
“Somehow that doesn’t surprise me.” Misty glared at her, “But I’ll wear it.”
“Alright now that that is settled what does it say?” Claire asked.
Brittany cleared her throat, “‘To the students of Citron Academy, Tomorrow classes have been canceled.’ Sweet that’s awesome!” Brittany commented momentarily stopping her reading, “Anyway continuing, all it says is; Thank-you for your attention.’ And now that’s it unless you want to read the note that they sent me but, yeah, no.”
Misty was nearly bouncing off the wall; “Ooh no classes! Now we get a lot of time to prepare for the dance!” Misty noticed Claire’s sour look and decided to cheer her up,
Hey who knows Claire Professor Jay, as nasty as that is, might even dance with you.” She said playfully.
Claire looked like she was in a dream-like state. “You know Mist, I think that I might just go after all.” The other girls just stuck out their tongues at the thought of the Professor and Claire that close to together.
Brittany groaned, “Thanks Claire, now I’m going to have nightmares for the next few weeks!” Misty and Kari nodded their heads in approval.
“Wow big show of support eh?” Claire said crawling into bed.
“Pfft, we are all for you but we can at least be disgusted by it at the same time.” Brittany said logically while pulling up the sheets on her bed.
Misty shushed them, “Guys, Kari is asleep. Keep it down.” She said closing her eyes. The other two nodded and went to sleep.
“Ah, Adam nice to see you here.” The Headmaster greeted Professor Jay with a smile.
“You forced me.” Professor Jay said slightly grating his teeth.
“Quite right, but you needed to get out of your room. Explore nature, maybe even meet someone nice.” He had that ‘all-knowing’ look in his eyes.
“No one will want to dance with me.” Professor Jay said slumping against the wall.
The Headmaster shook his head, “Ah but that is where you are wrong.” The other man cocked his eyebrow. “You’ll see soon enough my friend.” With that the Headmaster walked away. “May I have everyone’s attention.” Everyone looked up at him, “In order to get everyone aquatinted better I will turn out all the lights and you all will be searching for a new partner, and no you all have to participate. The numbers are even so anyone without a dance partner will get immediate detention. The teachers will also be participating just to make it more interesting. Let us BEGIN!” At ‘begin’ the lights turned out and people started to search for a new partner.
Detention, well that would suck. Claire smacked into someone that instantly caught hold of her before she fell, Well at least I know that they’re a gentleman… wait… she put her hands on their chest and was relieved to find that it was indeed a man that was her new partner. The lights turned on and when she looked up she was staring straight into the face of Professor Jay, “P-Professor… I uh… well um…”
The music started to play and Professor Jay grabbed Claire by the waist, “Let’s finish this Miss Valone. The Headmaster is watching me like a hawk to make sure that I dance with someone and I’m rather glad that it is someone who understands my feelings towards this holiday. One such as you for example.”
Oh my GOD! This is like on of my evil perverted little Daydreams in his class! Claire followed his lead and put a hand on his shoulder and the other in his hand. Inner Sigh Oh my GOD I still can’t believe this!
“And I dream that these would all come back to me
If only you knew every moment in time
Nothing goes on in my heart
Just like your memories
How I want here to be with you
Once more”
Professor Jay looked annoyed; “They even put on a sappy song.”
“Twenty bucks Amy choose it.” He nodded in agreement, “I didn’t know that you could dance so well.” Claire said unable to stop it before it came out.
“You think that I did nothing in my, evil, Dance class.”
Claire looked at him astonished, “You had to do Dance as well?” Again he nodded. “Hmm.” The music was pretty calming and she decided to take it a little farther and put her head on his shoulder as she followed his lead. He stiffened at the touch but allowed it all the same.
“…You will always gonna be the one in my life
So true, I believe I can never find
Somebody like you
my first love
Once in awhile
Your are in my dreams
I can feel the your warm embrace
And I pray that it will all come back to me
If only you knew every moment in time
Nothing goes on in my heart
Just like your memories
And how I want here to be with you…”
The perfect song for the perfect night. Claire sighed.
“Bored already Miss Valone?” Professor Jay asked.
Claire shook her head, “Not at all Professor-”
“Adam.”
“What?”
“Call me Adam, at least for tonight. Professor makes me feel like a Pedophile.”
She nodded, “Alright, Adam. But then I’ll ask you to call me Claire instead of Miss Valone.
“Seems fair.” He shrugged, “Now as you were saying?”
“Ah, right. I… well I was just thinking about how different you are from in class. Your much more… how do I put it…”
“Normal?” He offered.
“No I didn’t mean that! I meant you’re easier to get along with I guess.”
“So you do mean normal.” He joked.
Claire shook her head, “Your horrible!” She said laughing.
He smirked at her, “And that’s why you’re dancing with me.”
“…So true, I believe I could never find
Now and forever.”
“You see Norma, a perfect match. Speaking of which, would you lime to dance? We have only been watching and not doing a thing about us.” He took her hand and led her to the Dance Floor.
“Headmaster I’d be delighted.” She held onto him, “I feel like a little girl again!” Professor White said happily as she swayed to the music with the Headmaster.
Claire was about to pull away at the end of the song when Professor Jay pulled her back, “Not yet, there’s still a long night ahead and a few more hours of music left there. And if I’m not mistaken you didn’t come with a date.”
Claire put her head back on his shoulder, “Only if you want.”
“Shh, talk will ruin the moment. Just enjoy it.” Professor Jay slowed down the dancing in tune to the slow beats coming from the stereo.
I guess one day changed everything I’m having second thoughts about this holiday. Claire thought with a grin.
“I’ll believe all your lies
Just pretend you love me
Make believe
Close your eyes
I’ll be anything for you.”
“Ai Shiteru Adam.” Claire whispered into his shoulder.
“Hmm? What was that?”
Claire turned a deep shade of red, “N-nothing.”
Professor Jay had on an all-knowing smirk, “Ai Shiteru Claire. Ai Shiteru and don’t ever change.”
