Liberated Intolerance

Maybe you’re different than everyone else
I might not have understood before
The reasons for you’re way of life
How much I would be missing now
If my prejudices had gotten in the way
Had I shut you out
What would I be like today?
Diversity makes the world go ‘round
Stereotyping and profiling limit us
Open hearts and minds liberate
I need you because you’re different
Lessons to be learned from you
Education that can’t be gained elsewhere
You were the only one that could reach my heart
Values revised and rewritten
Changed forever
And I love you
