Written out of boredom in Driver’s Ed. Imagine some old person reclining on his or her porch on a sweaty summer day with a banjo in hand and you’ll just about have the rhythm. It's rather repetetive, but I'm terribly fond of it.

Red Asphalt Blues

2/21/06

I’m sitting here in Driver’s Ed

I’d rather be resting my head

Superman is back from the dead

Here we are

Going far

So I’m sitting here in Driver’s Education

Wishing for some air filtration

Friends are smoking one outside

At least they haven’t lied

Here I am alone, my ears are open wide

I’m sitting here in Driver’s Ed

I’d rather be resting my head

Superman is back from the dead

Here we are

Near and far

My love called me early today

I wished I were going his way

Taste of ginger on my lips

Swingin’ music in my hips

Strolling back inside to join the fray

I’m sitting here in Driver’s Ed

I’d rather be resting my head

Superman is back from the dead

Here I am

Well goddamn.
