Gone Inside

Once,

I danced barefoot

In the backyard.

I chased

After butterflies,

Heels immune

To the acorns

On the ground.

I used to be

Fearless.

Outside,

I played with earthworms,

Wore mud and leaves.

Where has that girl gone?

Inside,

To her room.

Her bed,

Where she dreams

Of the days

When she

Let herself go.
