When you cry, my heart, it weeps with you.

It weeps its blood, though my eyes shed no tears.

I hear your sobs; they rip my heart in two,

And leave it prey to all my deepest fears.

When you cry, a darkness dims the sun;

The singing stops, the joyful music dies.

There’s one light in my life - you are the one,

But that light darkens with your mournful cries.

When you cry, I’ve no reason to live,

Except to comfort you, make your joy whole;

But when no consolation can I give,

I feel so helpless, like a worthless soul.

When you cry, I want to end your pain.

Your suffering is hard for me to see.

So when you next need comforting again,

Please know that you can come and cry with me.
