Last Night

I remember your laugh as we lay down last night

I remember your smile as your arms held me tight

I remember your smell because you smell so good

I remember your attitude

Your lips when they didn’t kiss mine

Your hands when they didn’t hold mine

Your hair when I didn’t tuck it behind your ears to lean in and….

I remember the way we used to be

Wild, in love, open, free

Now corporate has got us glum

Our lives are empty when we should be having fun

I remember your touch the first time you stayed around

Your steps on the stairs when you stopped to see

If or not I was sleeping

I wasn’t by the way

I just closed my eyes because I knew you’d say….

“I AM yours”

But only if you thought I couldn’t hear you

We used to hold hands down by the beach

Watch T.V.

Talk late on the telephone

Run up the bill

Stay at my house for more than tea on afternoons

We used to be so easily in love

What happened?

So last night….

I’ll watched you this time

You moved closer,

But left your hands outside of mine

Now it’s my turn, and I really must say

I need this

Hold me

And don’t make me remember anything…just show me.
