Julieta, the child,

Spins

In her frilly party dress

And shiny white buckle-shoes.

She clicks her girl-heels

On the pavement,

Leans back and surveys the sky.

Blue for you today, the wind whispers

And the clouds are white and puffy like Julieta’s

Birthday dreams.

The sky is silent for the Julieta child

And the wind whips her dress.

Julieta watches a balloon float

Over the rooftop and up,

Up,

Up.

The Julieta child blinks out the sun

And breathes in the sky

And spins some more, because

Growing up turned out to be just a story.
