They were gone, they were dead.
My world was upside down.
Even at school, my life was death
And people only frowned.

I thought of leaving it all behind
Of ending all my pain
But then I stopped to reason
There was nothing I would gain

Everyone deserted me,
Fearing I would crack.
But you put one arm around me
The other on my back.

‘You don’t have to do this,
I’m here for you.’ You said,
‘The world would be a terrible place
if I woke to find you dead.’

I looked into your eyes
And knew you spoke with sincerity
And so, I turned over a new leaf
We’re friends now—you and me.

And now I’d like to thank you
For saving me from a sticky end
I shall never again feel all alone
because you are my friend

You are a hero, you know
But not the kind that comes to mind
And now that I see you down on one knee
I know happiness will never be hard to find.
