You stagger as the pain
Becomes impossible to bear.
You see a white light in the distance,
Softly calling you there.
You reach a single hand,
Towards this beautiful sight.
And though it’s pitch-black around you
Darkness is overcome by light.
All feeling in your body ceases
Save the warmth in your heart
And though you fear the judgment,
you know you’ve done your part.
Memories come now before your eyes
Of good times and of bad
And though some may weep for you,
They know you can at last be glad.
And so, as the darkness begins to claim your body
And light slowly engulfs your mind
You feel compelled to let both take you
Knowing nothing shall be left behind.
