Chocolate Hearts

I hear the dog start to bark,

He must be here already.

I walk out to greet him,

Still putting on my glove.

We go through a used car lot,

And a line of newly planted trees.

We enter into a drug story.

We walk straight t the candy isle.

He asks me what I want.

How excited I am--chocolate!

As I look at all the delicacies,

I can see him fidgeting with something in his pocket.

When he goes to pay,

He puts a nickel and an orange.

I go to pick out something different,

But the sales lady accepts it.

Outside, cars fly by.

He reaches for my hand,

And I place mine in his.

After two blocks he lets go.

I open my chocolate heart.

As I look over, I see him,

Unpealing an orange.

Yet, I see his eyes light up

As he looks at me.

I look at the orange.

It is a bright, blazing orange.

I take my chocolate heart

And give half to him,

And we both smile at each other.

This is a poem that my sister wrote for school, and for some reason, I really liked it. She was ecstatic when I offered to put it on FP, so please, critique it! It's the original, raw, production, with no corrections or anything. I'll give her any reviews that you guys give. Thanks!
