A/n: This is a poem I wrote after witnessing all the judgement that goes on in our world. I hope this poem sends a message to someone!

Difference

You see it.
On the news, on the streets, maybe even in your own school.
It happens like that. So fast, sometimes you don’t realize it’s happening.

What is it?

Judgement.

People being judged for who they are, what they do, even what they wear.
It isn’t fair! Why must people judge on what they say or hear?

People think it’s funny, it’s just something to do.

It’s not cool.

They see a person who is different. Not one of their kind. And tease them. No end, no end. They aren’t like you. They don’t have the hairstyle or clothes they are “required” to have.

“Why must it matter?” I ask with a sigh. Someone is different. So?
They are simply being themselves. Individuals! Or maybe they just don’t care what other people say. They go through the day, smiling all the way.

Whether someone is Black, Latino, or White,
We are all created equal under God’s light.
I know it sounds a bit simple, but it’s true! Why do some treat others the way we do?

So as I stop, once and for all, I would like to say a few words to all.
It does not matter who we are. It’s our heart and soul that will take us far.
