Handmade Innocence

Naivety’s overrated,
I'd rather be corrupt;
know all the dirty jokes
and all the naughty talk.

Why force faux-innocence?
It takes more time and work;
just ignore your stupid conscience,
take pills to shut it up.

Why push aside your life
when it's coming into bloom?
You stop it with your cold heart
to avoid the pains of growing up.

What's cool about ignorance?
You really know what's up;
you'll be held to the same rules
the only difference between
you
and
me

is how you look.
