Nine

"Allen wake up. Wake up you lazy fuck."

"Five more minutes."

"Get up now! We have to get going."

"Fine I'm getting up"

"You have ten minutes to take a shower." Drew angrily starts packing a bag for himself. "Meet me down by in the lobby; I'll be packing my own clubs. Man you are such a great caddy." I really don't know why I even brought him.

Here comes the big guy strolling down through the lobby 15 minutes late. Not a care in the world. "Good thing we are still waiting on Munn or we would have left you ass here."

I don't get how someone can be late to everything in their life.

During the car ride Drew just kept looking out the window at the poverty in this country that is floating on the most valuable substance on earth. I wonder why they don't fight to have the Oil pumped at a rate that can take them out of poverty. Instead they are probably just going keel over and let some huge and powerful oil company come and take all the profits.

As I gaze out the window I see a black suburban pass us. A few moments later another identical one passes us. We are in a five car caravan so passing is not easy. I start to get a bad feeling when three more tinted out black SUVs pull up behind the caravan.

This can't be good.

"Allen are you noticing what I am noticing?"

"Sure am. This can't be good. What do you think they want? Rob us, Kidnap us, or just Kill us?"

"I sure hope it isn't the later." We are in the lead car. I lean forward to talk to the driver Jiri. "Do you see what is happening around us?"

"Yea and I really don't like the looks of it. Things like this in my country are never good."

"Do you have any ideas on how to get us out of this?"

"None are coming to mind at the moment sir."

The other guys in the car have now caught on and are starting to freak out. They are so confused, I can't think with all this noise. What are we going to do? It looks so hopeless. Our Chevy Antara's are no match for those Suburbans.

They are closing in on us one of them has moved into the lane next to us. They have us boxed in on three sides. Big mistake.

"Call the other cars and make sure that they fallow us no matter what. NOW!!"

"Jiri are you a good driver?"

"I am great driver. I have had my license for three years. I have had lots of practice."

"Well how 'bout we switch seats. Hit the cruise control and slide over. You can be my navigator." Oh what I'd give to be driving a navigator right now. Better yet, a Bradley.

"Where is the first turn off to the right?"

"It is about a half mile up the road."

"Where does it go?"

"I don't know, never been out that way. Not much out there, everything is pretty flat around here. But I do know that it is a dirt road, if that helps."

"That might just give us a fighting shot. Tell the other cars that at this road I am going to hang a sharp left. No signaling that we are going to do anything." Hopefully this will throw one or two of them off us a few moments.

"Hold on." I slam the wheel to the right at the last possible moment. All the cars behind me slam on their brakes. Our last car gets slammed into by the car behind it. The trucks ahead of me slam on their brakes and spin around as soon as they heard the crash. This little baby has surprising off road capabilities. I just hope they are enough.

I see four guys get out of the SUV in the accident and take the golfer's they hit at gun point. I hate leaving them there, but their best shot at surviving is if one of us can get away. I don't know if that is going to happen.

Four of truck have recovered and are coming up quick. This thin dirt road should help keep them behind is. I just wish it was heading somewhere.

"Does anyone have anything we can use as a weapon?"

"Um, we have golf clubs."

"Yes that's helpful, we will throw light weight carbon composite sticks at them. That should slow down those 4000 lbs. trucks. Now does anybody have a better idea?"

"Look Drew, at least they are not shooting at us. That probably means they just want to kidnap us instead of kill us."

"Let's just hope they don't decide that a few of us are expendable." As I look back I see that last thing in the world that I'd want to see. "The rifle sticking out of the lead truck probably means that some of us are expendable."

The back window of the last car shatter from the gun fire. I see them duck and slam on their brakes. "It looks like we have lost another car. Tell the other guys that no matter what I do go left. Hold on real tight."

I feint to the right just to the edge of a slight drop off on the side of the road. It worked the lead car fell for it when he tried to cut me off. Another jerk to the left and all three cars are speeding across some really rough terrain.

It is so rough that my center rear view mirror falls off. "Jiri, you got any ideas?"

" There is nothing this.." He is cut off by shot blowing out a tire on the rear car. It spins out of control. The inexperienced driver over compensated just as he hit a hole. Big mistake. The back end came around on him and he land the little truck sideways.

"I’m just not seeing anything. It is just flat nothingness. I hate this place."

Our rear window explodes, as some shots rip through our car. "Everyone, heads down."

I am attempting to drive off road with as little of my head sticking up as possible. This is just not working.

Allen grabs a golf bag from the back of the car. The powerful man stands up in the sun roof and thrust the heavy bag at the last remaining Suburban. Bad luck, it smashes through the passenger side of the truck. Our two little SUVs are running next to each other now.

"Bray, what do you think about splitting up? There is only one of them and two of us."

"Tell them to start head back in the direction of the road maybe they can get help."

They better run into help soon because this thing is starting to get hot. As they bank to the left I start to slow down and play lame duck. Actually the car needs this. I have been running this thing all out of for fifteen minutes now at it doesn’t like it.

They took the bait.
