Roses of Ice

A feeling of content
Came over my calm face
As you gave me a bent
Rose made out of lace

Lace that was not cotton
Nor strings of silk or gold
Or lace that would be pleasant
To keep or to hold

This beautiful rose you’ve given me
Has come straight from your heart
And I now know, finally
That everything has fallen apart

Apart, yet I am happy
For what reason, I do not know
Can’t say I knew it’d be lasting
And that we knew how to sow

How to sow a pretty rose
That’s not made out of lace
That symbolizes the cold
That I’ve begun to chase

To chase and to reach for
I always liked winter, best
And I wish it could snow more
To put your words to rest

They really just keep coming
Though, I don’t know why
I always thought of you as loving
But at that thought, I sigh

This beautiful rose you’ve given me
The one that you’ve made
Is from your heart, completely
And not made from lace

Lace that was cotton
Or strings of silk or gold
But from only what you’ve gotten
And that would be cold

Well, I’m sorry it turned out this way
But thank you for this rose
That tells me all you wanted to say
Apparently, it’s the way things go

Though, giving me a rose was nice
I guess you really didn’t have to
What do I do with something made of…
Ice??

A rose laced of ice
Is an odd thing to receive
Unless I got one, twice
But it’s only been once, I believe

Everything’s fallen apart
And now I finally know why
You gave me this iced rose from your heart
It was to say … goodbye.

yes, another one of my random poems, that was inspired by an odd thing; a title!! yea, Roses of Ice is a story by Forget.Me.Not.My.Broken.Heart, and it is an awesome story, although its got nothing at all to do with this poem ive written. i wrote it, becausei somehow was struckby inspiration, upon seeing the title.thank you for letting me use the title, by the way!! :)

anyways, hope you like the poem -- no, nothing like this ever happened to me. like i said, it was completely random. but thanks for reading it. :)

happy reading --Wintertigress
