Man

By: Katrina Singleton

There was a man,

The luckiest man, the luckiest man there’ll be.

He was as rich as rich, richer than rich,

Than any man should be.

This lucky man, this rich, rich man,

Owned a hall of gold.

It all was his, and none would he share,

To anyone, though poor or old.

This man grew greedy,

Selfish, and mean.

He teased those who were lower than him,

He gloated about his mighty wealth.

His friends disappeared,

All company was gone.

But he didn’t care,

His feelings weren’t there,

Just a heart of coal and stone.

There is a man,

A man who was lucky, but is no more.

He’s richer than any king or queen,

But only in wealth and gold.

This man has a great, great gold hall,

Greater than any hall at all.

But this man be greedy,

He dare show none his great and glories hall.

He dare not share,

His heart turn hard and black,

All alone, everything gone,

Except his hall of gold.

Which he will walk alone.

Which he will walk alone,

For all eternity.
