Gray hoofs dug there way into the soft dirt as we made our way down though the field that leads into the dark and unforgiving woods. I dare not look back; I go on pushing my heels into the horse's side. The night is calm and there is no noon or stars out tonight, all I see is black ness. All I hear is the thunder of drumming hoofs, as he carries me into the long dark night.
Closer, closer we near the woods. Then I hear sounds coming from the other side of the field, they found us! My horse rears letting out a loud cry the galloping off into the woods, but they still follow. They are like a disease in skin, they never give up and they never let go. I lean forward letting my horse giving, his legs move faster and faster. His head stretched out as if wants to touch the darkened night. Soon the sounds fade away, I see the sun rising over the hills, trying to show us the way home. As I listen to the thunder of hoofs beneath me, as my horse carries us home.
