She sits by herself, writing

Long smooth brown hair is pushed back behind her ears

No one in class is looking

She seems to be unaware of the world around her

Unaware that everyone has long ago left her side

Unaware that they are all in a group talking

Surely if she knew, she would join them

He is in the group of people, laughing

She loves his laugh

His piercing grey-blue eyes glance at her occasionally

Her soft brown eyes meet his, and she turns away

She is writing about him

Does he know it?

She is thinking about him

Can he feel it?

The mob moves to her table to play cards

He sits in the seat next to her, the only available seat

She can’t breath, she can’t move

She would give anything to be his girlfriend, even just to be his friend

Her senses are thrown into overdrive when he is near her

She is completely aware of him

Aware of every laugh, every smile, every change of mood

The bell rings ten times louder than normal

She doesn’t move

He doesn’t move

As he reaches for his books she reaches for hers

A glance from him cuts right through her

Does he know how she feels?

Does he care?

If she can’t have him she doesn’t want anyone else

He is the only one who can make her heart stop

He seems to be the only one she can’t have

Lying in bed at night she wishes she could read his mind

She wonders what he is thinking when they glance at each other

She wonders what he is thinking when he is stretching and looking at her, taunting her

She closes her eyes and dreams of him
