Just Another Hero
From the cave’s entrance a loud hissing sound could be heard. Sir William stood covered in armor a lion was forged on his chest; it was his family symbol for the past 100 years. This hiss sent a chill down William spine, his grip on is sword became tighter as he held it. He thought his hand was going to start to bleed from how tight his grip had gotten. He took a deep breath and walked into the cave.
Deep in the cave sat a dragon, his scales where a dark green that turned to a bright red at the back. Its large tail leaned against the wall, it was thicker then any tree William had ever seen before. He looked up at its head a mouth full of knights before him hanged from its fangs. As he locked glazes with the glowing red eyes, they looked deep into William soul seeking out the fear in him.
William’s knees buckled as his hand started to sweat, hand grasped tighter behind his shield and sword, took a deep breath walking forward. Slowly he started to run forward sword ready to thrust into the dragon only to be sent flying into the cave wall by the dragon’s flying tail. The rocks crumbled onto William as he tried to look straight. His grip loosened his legs began to shake he had never been this scared before. He got back up and raised his blade over his head going to swing it forward at the dragon’s tail only for it to fly out of his hand.
The blade flew in slow motion as it circled in the air till it stabbed the dragon in the back. The dragon lifted his head and howled so loud the cave started to crumble. Rocks fell down towards William and he tried his best to doge them. All he had to do was get out of the cave and he would be victorious, but as he reached the entrance it clasped.
The fear ran though Williams bones as he looked behind him to see the dragon getting closer. He clawed at the wall trying to break free. His breaths getting heavier and heaver as he felt the hot dragon’s breathe go down his neck William dropped to his knees to prayed to god, but he was to late the dragon opened it’s large jaw and snapped it around William. His bones broke like twigs as screams filled the cave. Blood filled the dragon’s mouth dripping out to the floor.
He went to prove how brave he was, but he died in the most cowardly way. The town’s people named Sir William another brave knight that met his doom, but he was like all the others cowards pretending to be a hero.
