Flame

A young woman stood by the window still looking out into the dark night sky. A full moon hanged close to the earth and the stars burned brightly. She lit the candle sitting on the ledge; it quickly lit and a flame flickered like the starry night.

The woman spun around to look a strange man standing there. He basked in the light of the flame, he wore a cloak as dark as night with slick black hair. His deep eye stared into her. His hand reached out into the air towards her, it was as pale as snow. She went to scream but had lost her voice the man’s hand griped the air as he pulled his arm back. The woman floated towards him with no free will; she tried to struggle but couldn’t break free. She landed in the man’s arm as he looked into her eyes. Staring back she began to shake.

His long finger traveled down her face to her neck and a smirk came from his mouth showing fangs. The wall flickered of shadows as the man’s head lowered down onto the woman’s neck. His mouth widening around her neck, fangs slowly sank in drawing blood. The woman’s body became lifeless in his hand as he drank her blood. Once he was finished he gently placed the woman on the bed and walked to the window.

Looking down at the candle he took two fingers and smothered the flam; he then quickly disappeared. Her life was like the candle once burning so bright, but in the end it was only there to be smothered by another.
