Supposed Bliss

By Kirsten Nussey

Ijust wish I knew that you loved me,
I wish that I held some guarantee,
For I can't stand for us to be this way,
Our souls broken by the game we play.

I just wish I knew that you cared,
I wish that I didn't lay here scared,
For I can't stand to be like this,
Our touch apart, no more we kiss.

What happened? Why, did it come to this?
A broken end to our supposed bliss.

Part of me still wants you near,
To feel your touch, to love me here,
Another now just wants you far,
From me, from us; from this my scar.

My heart - still now, broken, lost
Deathly frozen by an unearthly frost
Why did you do it, did you not care?
Leaving me here, in my endless despair.

What happened? Why, did it come to this?
A broken end to our supposed bliss.

Love was eternal but now love is blind
A torture, a trap which plays with your mind
A devious game, no more and no less
There's no doubt about it, no second guess.

You broke me down, then tore me apart,
You did as you pleased, toyed with my heart.
For that, nothing could have had me prepare,
Your murderous betrayal, your gratuitous affair.
