Bitter words that melt away

Acid stamps on thirsty tongues

And all those reasons that you nip and tuck at your already over done appearance

Racing against the current

Then standing back to gaze at a ripple distorted reflection

You press your lips together to hold back those biter words

X-rated images behind your eyelids while snowflakes rest on eyelashes

All you want is arms wrapped around you

Breath against your neck to soothe your aching heart

Then when the moon is high up and you're wrapped up tight in nothing but blankets and broken glass tears slip down those tender cheeks

Tears that are absorbed in to pillow cases

Those bitter words you bite back are the only words you'll ever speak

With lips sewn so tightly shut and eyes blacked out
You hate pretending everything is okay

Close your eyes and tilt your head back to catch the falling rain

Let your mind wander

And melt away.
