Boy, this is ultra-sugary…. Read at your own risk!!

Ode to My Lover”

A bowl of berries,

You’re sweeter than that.

You’ve planted your seed,

Just by tipping your hat.

(-----)

In a room so hazy with browns and greys,

Don’t know how you manage to sparkle so in black and white.

A rich cascade of your being sets hearts and minds ablaze,

And it’s ever-so-difficult to kill the flames.

(-----)

By the lonely quayside I wait, drifting along,

You’ve been gone but a moment and I’m already experiencing withdrawal.

Then I hear, I feel, the familiar song that is you.

The flow of your words whisper to my skin, bounce against the atmosphere,

Setting sparks when I close my eyes.

(-----)

Once the weary day has come in a whirl,

A simple smile escapes you and unties the rope that binds me to my doubts.

The smell of your hair is so comforting when I’m fighting the sameness of the world.

Nothing compares, can ever contest, with the rhapsody in you I’ve found.
