Live Once More

I will lay here,
in this freezing darkness,
and let the cold take me.

I will stay here,
on this bed of ice and snow,
waiting for it to cover me
in a blanket of chilly nothing.

It will freeze me solid.
I will not speak.
I will not think.
I will not breathe.

I will wait in frozen solitude
until I can feel once more.
My heart will beat again,
becoming a white hot ember,
spreading the warmth through my body
with every pump of blood.

My icy cage will melt,
freeing me to live once more.
No longer will I be this numb.
I will live once more.
