The Flower and Her Sun
by Siberia

Note: My modifications to the Clytie-Helios myth.

There I was
Wasting away
On the emerald fields
Staring wide-eyed
At the sapphire skies
Pining hopelessly
For the Sun God
Riding his fire chariot
Far from my touch

I thought I was
Nothing more
Than a foolish nymph
Anchored to the ground
Grasping at nothing
But the shapeless air
Doomed to endure
Clytie's curse

But then one day
While I cried
For another life
You appeared
By my side
And what a surprise
For Helios
Dropped his diguise
Revealing to me
Mortal weaknesses
That no others can see

Your warmth and heat
Bring colour
To my cheeks
I feel so safe
Shedding my shyness
Allowing the petals
To blossom wide
Showing the pretty face
I usually hide

You cannot stay
For the entire day
So you head
Towards the West
Your influence
Diminishing
With every step
And as Nyx
Spreads her wings
I retreat back
To my soul's depths

Although the world
Is dark and cold
And nightmares reign
Under Selene's hold
I now know
There's nothing to fear
For you'll soon
Wipe away
My tearful dew
With the arrival
Of Eos' rosy hue
