Empty

Their laughter rings in her ears,

As she hangs onto the empty promise,

Of an empty stomach,

She’s better than them,

She tells herself,

She has something they don’t,

Strength,

She doesn’t have to eat,

Food,

Is ridicule,

It is the monster,

That consumes,

If she is so strong,

Why is she so weak?

Fat,

No!

Dead,

Sure.

To die skinny,

Is glorifying,

To live fat,

Is cruel laughter.
