There’s a bass line in my body.

The electricity that pushes my feet forward.

The electricity that pumps this bleeding heart

and rattles my ribcage.

Electricity that pushes my brain against my skull.

That churns my stomach.

When it starts to buzz in my ears,

I hear a lyric among the vibration.

I hear a lyric as the blood shudders up into my head.

Telling me, “I need…”

I need something

constant.
