True Love Strikes in an Instant

---

A/n: Ha! Happy poem! Completely free verse but this one is true.

I love you with all my heart Bryan!

---

It started with the casual glances

The ones that said, "you're sexy"

It progressed to the smiles

Not the one typical to friendship

Finally I couldn't meet your eyes

They were too alluring

Blue, green, gray, so distracting

We tried to ignore

For a long as we could anyway

But you couldn't help but touch me

And I couldn't help but like it

The gentle hand around my waist

Only a friendly gesture of course

The soft touch on my back

I was with your best friend

Though he didn't seem to care

Somehow it worsened

I found myself on your lap

Or running my fingers along your neck

Or mindlessly rubbing your head

Still no one noticed

Several months had gone past

We were tired of pretending

You hated being just friends

But then our chance arose

Under very odd conditions

I could be yours five times

To him I'd become nothing

Someone to pawn off on friends

But that left us free

To realize we both cared

And so we kissed that night

That first sweet kiss

The second followed suit quickly

Even better than the first

Several night after

You took me home

I almost stole a kiss

I hadn't realized you leaned in too

But still we waited

And the evening of Christmas I called

We talked about nothing at first

But later that night

Our toughts turned more serious

More free for emotions

We realized we both cared

It was too much to ignore

I made a request

One I'll never regret

I asked for a kiss

Just one more

I wanted to see

And so the next day came

You picked me up

But no kiss came

I thought I had dreamt it all up

But then you surprised me

I had been saying something or other

When all of a sudden you leaned over

And silenced me most pleasantly

It was the best kiss I'd had in years

But then he showed up

He had a habit of doing so

But later that night we devised up a plan

In Walmart we'd play hide and seek

But our goal was neither hiding nor seeking

We wanted another chance

We needed more kisses

You see at that point we were both addicted

He was put out of my mind that night

And I called you once more

We admitted love was quite possible

We'd been best friends for years

And the next day, my birthday

I requested a present

Time was all I asked

We both got up before nine

We sat outside for hours on end

Kissing and talking, happier than ever

As the day drew to an close

I ended it with him

And made plans with you

Rational thought had been lost

But neither of us cared

Next day came and you got me once more

We made it official

You placed your dogtags on my neck

From that day on

Happiness has never ended

Not one regret do we have

I now have only wish

That nothing ever ruins our happiness
