I've been seeing a lot of these lovely birds around recently and I was inspired to write about them.

Redwinged Blackbirds

They perch on cattails along the marsh

Surveying all they see

Their brethren not far from them

Some sing, happy to welcome another dawn

Others just observe all around them

There are those preening themselves

In hopes a mate will choose themselves

A lovely ebony and scarlet parade

Sitting along the marshes

Just begging for someone to see themselves

And how beautiful and charming they are.
