Starting Over

You hold my hand

as we walk down the street

you insist we greet everyone we meet

I laugh at you,

you tease me,

this is how I want things to always be.

So perfect in this moment,

so young, so alive,

we’ve forever to be together,

what could be better?

16 and in love,

16 and in love.

10 years later another man

holds my hands

wedding bells ring in the air

he kisses me softly

I hear the choir sing

and on my finger there

is now a wedding ring

chorus

26 and married

26 and married

3 years later a little boy

smiles and me, and acts coy

I smile and laugh

in spite of the pain

and it’s quiet as

we listen to the falling rain

chorus

29 and a mother

29 and a mother

5 years later,

I sign the papers,

legally I’m single now.

I haven’t dated in 9 years,

but now I hope to dry my tears.

I’ve got a future to fix;

I’ve got a guy to find

and little guy to drag behind.

chorus

34 and divorced,

34 and divorced.

2 years later

I find him sitting in our favorite place

and little spot in the park

the sun is setting; it’s getting dark,

but I stay and talk anyway.

And this is the guy I love-

this is the guy I have dreamed of.

I’m ready to undo 20 years or waiting,

I’m ready to be 16 again.

chorus

36 and starting over

36 and starting over.

ok, so now imagine somebody with a really good voice singing this with a piano accompainist, and you've got it. well, without the paino, because i can't play the paino. but i digress- please review! I swear I will try to review you in the near future, if not immediantly.
