Title: A Little Bit Crazy
Rating: R/M
Warnings: Mention of death and incest

She was cool and beautiful and more than a little crazy. She held a cigarette loosely between her lips, and the iced tea passed by.

She didn’t look like a woman recently on trial for murder. She didn’t look like a widow. She looked like a free woman, a happy woman. Almost.

The cop could see the lines around her eyes; she could see the tired tilt of her lips.

“It’s left its mark on you,” the cop leaned back, her body twisting slightly as she stretched.

“What has?” the woman’s clear blue eyes looked at the cop, a grim smile in their depths.

“Jail, the media, your mother in law.” The cop watched the blue eyes darken and curled a cup of coffee in her hands.

“Do you want me to spill my confessions to you now?” the woman laughed softly and gracefully lit a cigarette. “I might as well… You can’t prosecute me now… Double jeopardy being what it is…”

The cop nodded and watched the discarded ashes fall into a crystal ashtray.

“I killed him. Which must have been pretty obvious,” she waited for the nod, “I got the gun and I shot the bastard’s brains out. But that’s not what you’re asking. That’s not what you want to know, is it? All you want to know is, why did I do it? What could possibly inspire me to kill the man I loved more than anything? It wasn’t money or another man… No, it predated that.” She sighed and watched the avid interest of the cop with a morbid sigh. “Did you know that he had been sleeping with his mother since he was fourteen years old?”

The faint signs of disgust, which she was more than familiar with, took over the cop’s face. The slightly flared nostrils, the crooked eyebrow, the down turned lips. She’d seen it in the mirror… that day.

“I didn’t. Not until I killed him. Well, I knew a couple days before,” she sighed, “I wish I’d have been able to keep with my real plan.”

“What was that?” the cop looked at her.

“To kill my mother in law. That bitch fucked my husband over, big time,” the finely manicured red nails began to curl brutally against the meat of her palm.

“What went wrong?” the words flowed out, the curiosity, morbid and heavy, hung in the air between them.

“He came in one day,” the woman rubbed at her eyes, “From work or some shit. He looked… peaceful, happy. I was so angry and I asked him, ‘is she worth it, your mother?’” She sighed and lost a couple loose ashes, “He looked at me and smiled. Good fucking God, he smiled! And said, “indescribable.’ I lost it.” The last words were said calmly and she looked up. Blood began to seep from thin little crescents where her nails had dug into her hand. “I think I have to go now.”

Well. Holy shit. A beautiful women, and a lot more than simply crazy.
