---

There is a little girl

Who cries at night

She needs to turn on the light

From the darkness

That she can't wake from

You can't hear her cries over the voices down stairs

---

She asks why lord don't you come for me?

Who don't you hear me?

Can't you take me under your wing?

And set me free

To a place where there is no pain

Where there is love

I know that there is some from up above

So, please set me free

I can't just let it be

For you see

I can't let them fight over me

---

I wish I wouldn't have gotten sick

Then everything would be the way it use to be

When the warm breeze would come over my face

And they would talk about another place in time

And thought I have tried

Throwing in a dime in the wishing well

To wish for it to be the way it use to be

Because I could tell

That we were happy then

I wish that I could go back in time and stay there

---

There is a little girl

Who cries at night

She needs to turn on the light

From the darkness

That she can't wake from

You can't hear her cries over the voices down stairs

---

She asks why lord don't you come for me?

Why don't you hear me?

Can you take me under your wing?

And set me free

To a place where is no pain

Where there is love

I know there is some from up above

So, please set me free

I can't just let it be

For you see

I can't let them fight over me

I wish I wouldn't have gotten sick

---

God works in mysterious ways

Because one Saturday morning setting in the hospital

You hear her mommy and daddy crying like there isn't a tomorrow

There is to much sorrow

In her little room

In her little room

--

There was a little girl

Who use to cry at night

Who has found the light

The light from up above

Where there is love

Where there is no pain

She is home

A/N: I wrote this when I was about 7 or 8 years old. This was the first poem I tried to write, and ever since then I have loved to write. I hope that you enjoy reading this. I know that I enjoyed sharing this with you. I also revised it through the years just in case you where wondering.
