AN- This isn't much, its just another one of those 'Mythology' stories I wrote for the roleplaying site I made (thats slowly dying from lack of members). It's a sequal to 'Rebirth of a World', essentially. The story explains what happened to the last, extra bit of The Nameless One's soul.
The Lands of Lavation
Fragmented Essentia
When one really looks at it...A soul is not quite made of only two parts. When one really looks at it, there is also a third, middle part. A part not completely good, but not utterly evil. A part wavering on the two, a part to tip the scale.
If utter evil turns to Fate. And complete good turns to Destiny. Where, then...is the third and final peice...of The Nameless Onen's soul? Many began to wonder this very thing. And so the answer came one day, as if on the wind, known suddenly to a few whom quickly spread the word and story. Yes...this story was one of Mythology, sent from The Unkown himself to explain something lingering in the minds of many Lavatians.
On that fateful day, when the two Etherials were made, the last bit of The Nameless One's soul was left. The Unknown knew that should any Lavation find the peice of this soul in its full and completed form...that being would possess the powers of the Etherials. They would, in all sense, become a Third Etherial. And The Unknown wouldn't have that.
The Unknown shattered the last peice of the soul, letting the fragments spread themselves out amongst the new world he had created, hiding themselves in the forms of gems, of shards. This part of the story spread quickly, and soon these gems were known as Scintillas. Each individual Scintilla granting a seperate power. And, when joined together and reformed into one, the power of the Etherials is granted to the bearer.
It is not known where these were to be found. It is not known, either, how to tell the Scintillas apart from regular gems, for they appear as normal as any other gemstone in this world. It is known, however, what powers there are in each Scintilla. And the form of gemstone that each of these take.
Electricity, held in the
Citrine gem.
The ability to change and shift shape into
any Lavatian Race, held safely in the ever changing Alexandrite
stone. A stone once made by man on Earth, but which now occurs
naturally.
Strength, held in the unwavering strength of
the Diamond.
Darkness, pooled in the fathomless dark
color of the Jet gem.
Light, kept in the swirling surface
of the perfect white pearl.
Water, held in the depths of
the blue Sapphire.
Ice, frozen under the surface of the
Blue Zircon
The power of the mind, Telipathic and mental
strengths, held in the Amythist
The powers of the Earth
and Forest, held in the Green Tourmaline gem.
The power
of the winds, and the ability to grasp onto the air currents, kept in
the Opal gem.
And of course, the unharnessed strength of
Fire, kept contained in the center of the Garnet.
The story from the wind and Unknown drew close to an end here, leaving all who heard it with a warning. Those who find and attain these Scintillas would be known as Minithreals, for though they possess powers that normal Lavatians do not...they are nowhere near as strong as the Etherials themselves.
When the Scintillas are first gained by those who would become a Minithreal, it can simply be carried, or worn on a jewelery of sorts. Eventually though, after the Scintillas have been worn for some time, it will meld into the Minithreal. If worn on a peice of jewelery, said jewelery would imprint as a marking mirroring the jewelery, the marking surrounding the Scintillas that would then be embedded into the skin and being of the Minithreal. If the Scintillas is simply held, or kept in a pouch and such, the melding to the Minithreal would vary in many ways.
The powers would not make themselves apparent right away, and the true nature of said power would vary depending on the nature of the Minithreal's heart. When the Scintillas melds with the Lavatian, still depending on the nature of their heart, the power would either remain the same or corrupt the Minithreal.
The details of all of this story were faded, swept away by the same wind that brought the story there. The Unkown, of course, did not want the Lavatians to know every detail of these Scintillas, particularly not their location. For now, anyway...the Residents of Lavation wonder where these Scintillas are kept. Perhaps some of these shards of the Nameless One's soul that have been around since the dawn of Lavation have already been found? Perhaps some have already gained acess to their power, and thus the title of Minithreal?
But with this knowledge the possibility of a new threat approaches...for there will of course be those who seek to collect all of the Scintillas, and rise up to the ranks higher than simply Minithreal. One question now lingers...is a time vastly approaching when there will be a Third Etherial?
