The phone line went dead
Every tear that ever existed burst forth
Upon her cheeks in a torrent of regret
She'd hung up on the one guy that ever
Made her feel worth it.
The one guy she ever truly loved.
Deep sobs echoed in the silent home,
Every fiber trembled within her to call back
Everything hurt. There was too much pain
She wanted him with everything she had
But couldn’t show it.
There was the fear of the relationship never working
And of being broken hearted again.
Pride did not stop her from calling back,
She just didn’t deserve the acceptance of an apology,
So she didn’t try.
