The Unrequited Dream
By: Bleached Roses
Note: Dedicated to a friend.. who bandaged my wounds and helped me stand. He'll never read this, but I wish he knew I don't feel the same way..
All the h o u r s you held me tight,
My skin was ice against your warmth.
Darling, are you blind too see--
I am dead on the inside,
he stole my last dying breath..
It saddens me to see you
try so hard
to steal a heart that does not reside in
my e m p t y chest.
My love holds me captive,
my beating heart is his alone until--
it s h a t t e r s -&- stains his hands
with my life.
Darling, you gave me your all without my consent. The pulse of your soul echos in my mind -- a continuous reminder of an unrequited devotion. I question the powers at be, why must you love me so.. does the pain not torture you? I wish not to be the knife that cuts into you, but rather the one to heal your wounds. Fate plays a cruel hand, my friend, so please.. save yourself the agony. Leave me be, these scars will fade in time, then maybe my heart will be returned, only to be given away again.. to you, with a dedication of true devotion.
