Deception

You can't look into my eyes

and tell me

everything's fine.

You can't utter these words

then convince me

it's all a lie.

You can't tell a story

then stop before

you reach the end.

You can't stab me in the back

and still expect

to have a friend.

You can't walk into a room

and expect the world

to fall at your feet.

You can't break a heart

and expect to hear

the same consistent beat.

You can't look into my eyes

and tell me

everything's fine.
