Witch Hunter

Deafening music rippled through the air. I stood facing that direction. Ahead of me was a warehouse of some sort. Moonlight being my only source of light I couldn’t make out the details, I could only tell that it was very old. Paint peeled down the walls and revealed rusty metal. And blood.

Dammit! I’m too late! I raced forward, silently, taking in all my surroundings. Escapes plans that I could use if something went wrong pulsed through my brain subconsciously. I was always prepared for the worst.

I reached the door and paused. I could’ve sworn I’d heard footsteps. Over the music, I wasn’t so sure. I swept the area with my eyes, careful not to miss anything. Which was very difficult considering the lack of light. My eyes had adjusted more, however, so my sight range had increased slightly.

Confident that I was alone, I slowly gripped the door handle and turned it. I pushed the door but it wouldn’t budge. No surprise there. It probably hadn’t been used in years, by the look of it. It looks like someone had tried to pain over the door. Had it not been for the handle I probably wouldn’t have noticed it without closer inspection at daytime, or at least with a torch.

I swung around suddenly. I hadn’t imagined it this time. Definitely footsteps. The gravel crunched again, louder and coming my way. I ducked behind a dark shadowy shape - a tree or shrub of some kind. The branches scratched my face and arms. I felt a drop of something warm running down the side of my face. Whether it was sweat or blood, I didn’t know. Not really caring, probably because of my current situation, I wiped it away with the back of my hand.

Crunch! Closer. I considered peering out from behind my hiding place to see the intruder but I didn’t dare. It didn’t sound very safe for one, and the whole thing with blood being on the wall…well, I didn’t want to run into the one who had put it there. He was the reason I had come. I wasn’t going to put myself in any danger though, if I could help it. I just wanted revenge.

I murmured a quick protection spell for myself, then, with my mind set on vengeance, began the incantation I had spent hours earlier perfecting and memorising.

Bound tight by emotion

Let him relive his fears.

Law of three unfold unto him.

Bring him torture that sears.”

I envisioned the guy, Devon Ashton, the one who’d murdered my best friend and even attempted to kill me, have all the pain he’d caused returned to him. Threefold. I had no idea how it would affect him but I knew it would work. I had never experienced so much power, so strong, so blinding. There was no way that he would escape my wrath.
